My husband was at Palm Terrace after breaking a hip. One of the nurses was very nasty and kept trying to give him medicationss that had severe side effects and could result in his demise. He had stage 3 bedsores which I found on at least two occasions to be undressed and he had been left in a soiled diaper for a significant period of time. I requested a specialist and was willing to pay, but never got one. The doctor assigned to him, never saw him as far as I know in the two weeks he was there.
On the plus side, the speech therapist was a sweet woman who volunteered to feed my husband so I did not have to come in early in the morning. Everyone should beware of hospitals and nursing homes using psychiatric medications inappropriately to quiet down people instead of handling the problem. In my husband's case, he had Parkinson's but the neurologist at Saddleback wrote the prescription for the Parkinson's medication incorrectly, and he was not getting enough medication. The result was at the hospital and at Palm Terrace, that they tried to medicate him with anti-anxiety medications, when that was not the problem.
The net result of medical errors at Saddleback and mediocre care at Palm Terrace was that my husband passed away.
Pros: decent ambience, some caring staff, parking
Cons: doctor never saw him, stage 3 bedsores without dressing, inappropriate medications
