Editorial review from Citysearch 2/28/2013

My boyfriend has has been going to Dr. Ximenes for 7 years and swears by him. However lately the woman that works in the office-Tammy has been very rude to him as of late. So much in fact, he said he expressed switching doctors, just so he doesn't have to deal with her. This is a problem, she is adding to his stress, which is one of the things he is seeing Dr. Ximenes for. Ironic. Tammy needs to change her attitude or Dr. Ximenes' practice will suffer. more

PA Nancy Benzel has helped me for years 2/2/2011

I have been going to Nancy Benzel PA for years (shes in a new office now, Neuroendocrine Consulting). She takes the time to really listen to me and explains complicated things in a way I can understand. I ask her opinion about advice I get from my other doctors before I will do it. She has help me and so many of my friends. She thinks outside the box, so if anyone can figure it out - she can! more

cured my chronic back pain 9/9/2010

Dr. Ximenes is the best doctor I've ever seen. I was told by over 25 doctors that there was nothing they could do for my chronic back pain (or worse, it was all in my head). I received complete relief from prolotherapy. It did take 9 months of treatment, but just like he predicted, after 9 months I started to see improvement, and after 2 years I was in zero pain. I went from being on disability, not able to even wash my own hair to working 9 hour days behind a desk. He also really takes the time to listen to you. I have no idea what this other reviewer is talking about with Nancy. I have never dealt with anyone else in his office besides the nurse who takes my weight and blood pressure. Everyone in the office is extremely nice, and I almost never wait more than 5 minutes. My last appointment, I didn't even get to crack my book when Dr. Ximenes walked in. I can't say enough positive things about the entire experience. He also has a great recipe for a health food smoothie with all kinds of good stuff in it and it still actually tastes good. more

I couldn't disagree more 7/12/2009

Dr. Ximenes PA, Nancy Benzel, is the most unprofessional medical employee I have ever encountered. As long as you purchase their vitamins and potions, you'll be in good standing. If you don't respond to their treatment, they will drop you as a patient. Check out the postings on rate your doctor. Bad news. more

Excellent, excellent, medical care. 7/27/2008

After several years of suffering from chronic lower back pain that left me nearly immobile at times - standing in line to get tickets for a movie was impossible for instance, I decided to try acupuncture. Still skeptical of non-traditional treatments, I sought out a practitioner that was also an MD. I could not be happier with that decision or with Dr. Ximenes. \r \r Rather than just ask me about my back, Dr. X asked me about my life. An hour and twenty minutes into my first visit, we were done talking and he recommended nutritional supplements, a book to read, and a 5 element acupuncture process that he said, ""Has nothing to do with your back, but you'll be amazed how much better your back will feel"".\r \r I still visit Dr. X on occasion, I still get flair ups due to excessive periods of stress or perhaps even from lifting a heavy object carelessly. I see him perhaps once every six months. Being a technical person, I very much enjoy his explanations of how and why his techniques work.\r \r Prior to meeting Dr. X I was seeing a chiropractor regularly and was taking Vioxx, Bextra, and was getting cortisone shots in my lower back. No one remedy was effectual for more than 30 days. For a couple of years now I've been absolutely medicine free, I am exercising and cycling regularly - and waiting patiently in line to see a movie now and then!\r \r Thank you Dr. Ximenes! more

Dr. Rey Rocks! 7/26/2008

Dr. Rey Ximenes is the best pain doctor I have seen in decades of suffering. Since finding his office - he has a fantastic Nurse and office staff as well - my pain is under control and and my general health better than it's been in years. Dr. Rey's deep knowledge of Conventional and multiple Alternative modalities allows him to do what is best for YOU, painlessly, with humor and compassion. \r \r If the entire Medical community were as knowledgeable, smart, experienced, and deep not to mention cool as Dr. Rey, Austin would be a better place. Improve your life and go see Dr. Ximenes. \r \r Pros: Knowledge, Multiple modalities, Good Vibes, Results Cons: Stairs to the office more

Excellent Care 7/26/2008

I have been a patient of Dr. Ximenes since 2003 for chronic neck pain. I had a cervical diskectomy and fusion in 2001, but the surgery did not eliminate my chronic pain problem. After the surgery, I was referred to pain management and was prescribed a fair amount of pain relievers and other prescription medications . I decided to look for other options when a nerve ablation procedure was recommended and consider myself very fortunate in finding Dr. Ximenes. His recommendation for lifestyle changes including regular walking, dietary changes such as elimination of inflammatory foods, and nutritional supplementation, along with less-invasive procedures like acupuncture, trigger point releases and other non-traditional therapies, has been very effective in managing my pain. A willingness to take responsibility for my healthcare, and follow Dr. Ximenes? guidance and recommendations has eliminated my need for prescription pain medication, and I am able to live a productive and healthier lifestyle. I am very grateful that Dr. Ximenes believes in the importance of treating the source of pain rather than the symptoms. His approach to medical care involves listening, educating, persistence, and he always allows plenty of time to provide the care needed.\r \r more

What a WONDERFUL Pain management doctor! 7/11/2008

I have had Fibromyalgia for 20 years and it has become more severe in the last 2 years. I have been to my share of doctors! Dr. Ximenes is the first that really listens to me and counsels me in a very specific and thorough way. He covers all aspects of care and does not half-hazardly throw medications at symptoms like so many others. He completely understands the entire disorder and educates his patients. His office staff is very warm and caring as well. They listen to you and assist you whenever you need it. This physician and his office has already changed my and my family's life in such a positive way! VERY HIGHLY recommended! Pros: Every aspect of my visits have been great - thorough care, warm, compassionate, understanding Cons: None more
