It has a lot of amenities, but the quality of the rooms is lacking, even though the price is pretty good 7/8/2006

It is true that you get what you pay for, though the pictures and description of the hotel that I saw online when I booked my trip made this place seem like a dream come true - TV, Fridge, Micro, Jacuzzi Tub and Complimentary Breakfasts (everyday) and Dinners (weekdays), all 52.00 a night, compared to the $160+ prices of everything else in the area. I think only one other hotel came close, but the pictures made this place look really professional and I liked the sound of the Jacuzzi! I booked two nights in order to be close to a relative who was having a minor surgery nearby and ended up staying only one night because they released her early. It served its purpose, and it was far from awful, but there were some definate downers, just in terms of the quality. I have no idea what rooms they were photographing for the pictures they posted online, but those rooms looked nothing like the room I got. Yes, the Jacuzzi was there and it worked, and we even got 2 TVs and two seperate rooms (a sort of sitting room and a bedroom). However, the refridgerator was so tiny I barely got a 2-Liter soda in there, and the Microwave looked really out of date. The bedroom window faced the walkway, which sort of freaked me out, and there were visible patches on the walls in the bathroom, along with a cracked tile, a lot of strange staining on the shower tiles, rusty towel racks, messed up screen on the window, etc. A lot of things really needed to be spruced up, mainly in the bathroom, where there were also strange looking BUGS. They didn't seem to be fleas, bedbugs or anything else really awful but I was a little freaked neverless. There was also construction going on next door and within 20 minutes of us checking in a strange man just walked right into our room and scared the living daylights out of us! I really really wondered what he was doing in our room... We didn't have anything worth anything laying around while we were gone, so there was nothing to steal, but I was still freaked out that just some random stranger had access to our room and apparantly had a keycard. I think he was just a maintance guy and I think he was just looking to use the bathroom, but still it was very very unprofessional. The phone rates are really unreasonable, so we ended up using a cellphone instead. On top of that all the furniture, while generally really nice, was really scuffed up and I just got the feeling that the management didn't care. I didn't have a chance to try the food but I did see the eating facitilties which really looked lacking. It is right acrossed from the "Hanky Panky" strip club, which sort of made me feel weird, and seems to cater mostly to day laborors and other long term guests. It definately was not the worst hotel I have ever been too, but I sort of ended up wishing I had paid a few bucks more for Best Western. more
