Outdoor Store

I can't be sure but I think the guys there cheated me into changing alot more on my bike. I asked them to fix my breaks and he took my bike for two days and returned it with a 40 dollar bill having changed the break pads but said that the break mechanism doesn't work and that requires a 30 dollar investigation charge. But I wonder why he changed the break pads on that part of the bike if the mechanism itself doesn't work. Quite silly and left me very annoyed. Not recommended at all. more

After reading the reviews posted here, I've decided not to waste my time or money at this store while in the area. \r I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to write them. It's a damn shame the people running that store don't know the importance of good customer service. more

Their location is very convenient to us (walking distance), and their stock is more than adequate for our needs, although I can't say how it seems to a serious outdoorsman. They have a great sale now and then, and we've gotten amazing bargains. What kind of service you get on a given day is anybody's guess, though. We've had guys who were terrific and really went out of their way to be helpful and make sure we got what we wanted, and guys (they don't seem to hire women very much) who all but sneered and acted as if they were doing us a favor by taking our money. My advice: if there's a sale on something you want or need, take a chance on the service. I wouldn't pay full price for anything there, ever, though. If they're not having a sale, go elsewhere where the service is more reliable. Pros: Good location, occasional terrific sales Cons: Service very hit or miss more

I agree with all of the other reviewers who said how rude and horrible Dan was to them. I bought a bike from him, then tried to have it serviced there. The experience was amazingly hostile and unprofessional. He also hung up the phone on me. It seemed like he wanted to start a physical fight. Mental imbalance? It left me very shaken and I've never been back since. I tell all my friends to avoid him. I've heard this opinion confirmed by many people, even strangers. I wanted to rent a bike in Ithaca and visited this store in the center of downtown. The owner/manager was very rude and short with me. He acted like he was trying to start a fight! I left without a bike. Steer clear. Pros: great location in commons Cons: manager is so rude I left! more

This bike store gave me the best service ever, riding through Ithaca had a fairly serious problem got to the store front just as they were closing the owner Dan opened the shop spent over 2 hours getting me back on the road...didnt charge me a dime...i have since bought 3 bikes from them...they are world class. thank you Outdoor Storians you rock Pros: service service service more

This seemed like a great place, and I like to support downtown - but I bought a bike there and the service was terrible. I was told my first tune-up would take 24 hrs but then it was 4 days. When I complained to the manager, he hung up the phone on me. I am definitely wishing I had purchased a bike from one of the other Ithaca bike stores! more
