As a homeowner walking distance to this new Sushi restaurant, I was so pleased to see a new addition to the growing food scene at our Queen Anne hilltop. The look of the place wa...

My favorite sushi in Seattle! 1/11/2007

I love Ototo! The staff is fantastic, the decor is so clean, and the food is fantastic! I love sitting at the bar so I can chat with the chefs and see what they are making. They have a great selection of specialty rolls plus all of your favorites. And be sure to save from for the Chocolate Calzone! Yes I said it, Calzone. I though the idea of a dessert with an Italian name served at a Japanese restaurant was flat our absurd but once you try it you will wonder why you ever doubted! more

For Those Who Aren't Sure About Sushi 12/21/2006

I'm not a sushi person. I don't like the taste of seaweed, and I'm wary of raw fish. I know, I know, I'm just not that cultured. I've tried. But last night I went to Ototo Sushi on Queen Anne. The ambiance was notable as soon as we walked in. Everything - including the tables people were sitting at, and the decor (which was minimal) was tasteful and clean. The dishes are almost all made by a local ceramics artist who lived in Japan for years, and then there's the intimidating sushi chef that stands behind the bar. He served us sushi and sake (also something I didn't really like before last night) all night long. We just kept on ordering from the prolific menu, and kept on getting served. As someone who is wary of raw fish, there was a lot for me to choose from. I had rolls of tender boiled eel with avocado; spider rolls full of crunchy tempura crab and fresh vegetables; inari of sweet fried tofu pockets filled with rice; and smoked salmon. And for my friends, who are definite sushi fans, there was plenty of raw fish to go around. We spend a LOT of money (oops) but left full and happy. more

Fresh and delicious 2/12/2006

I went back a secnd time for sushi and again was not disapointed. The rolls very good- although I do wish they had more variety or rather ecletic rolls rather than the same old ones you see everywhere. I tried the tempura, which was ok- not the best- kinda small portion, but we are talking about Queen Anne. The sushi especially the eel, salmon and tuna were fantasic- fresh and full of flavor. Plus pretty reasonable prices. They also do to go orders, so for the days you don't feel like venturing out or dealing with the wait, you can get fresh sushi at home. more

Value priced sushi 8/17/2005

You get a lot of bang for your buck at this place. The servings are huge but not quite as tasty as some places. The value is very good for the food and you have a lot of variety to choose from. Service is good and they often have coupons in neighborhood mailers, which is the reason I ate their a few times. I don't highly recommend this place but it is a tasty enough place to go when you want to try a new type of sushi and don't want to pay a fortune for it. more

  • The Scene
This is not a cozy, snuggle-up kind of place, and it certainly doesn't blend into Queen Anne's otherwise low-profile restaurant row. It's clean, bright and starkly decorated;...
