Don't bother 7/31/2008

Although the location is convenient, this place stinks foodwise. The servers were inexperienced and the food was average or below. I got a Katie Cashel(?) salad and the Rarebit appetizer. The rarebit cheese dip itself was okay, lacking in flavor, but it was served with dry toast...I mean like the stuff you have leftover from breakfast. The salad had a little too much brown lettuce in it for my liking and the chicken on it was DRY. Their bleu cheese dressing was actually runny, like they'd watered it down or something. The salad was mostly lettuce, not as much topping as you would expect for the price. Their prices were on the high side I thought I spent about $20 for my appetizer and salad. One of the waitresses spilled an entire glass of ice water on my girlfriend. The atmosphere was okay. There were 6 of us and we had to sit at a table that had 2 couches for seats. Not very good trying to pull a couch up to a table to eat dinner. That kind of thing would be great for a drinking lounge with a coffee table in front of it, but to eat on? I don't think so. Their menu was very small. Not a lot of choices. Pros: Location close to the Nationwide Arena Cons: Everything else. Not many items on the menu (typical for a pub maybe) Food stinks, service below average, high prices, uncomfortable seating, more

best spot to grab a pint and a bite 10/6/2005

O'Shaughnessy's has managed to achieve an environment where people in suits are as comfortable as those in jeans. I originally stopped in because of the great location and continue to go for the authentic and addictive comfort food, the salmon is wonderful too and a bit on the lighter side. Tons of great beers on draft, beautiful rich atmosphere, what more could a city dweller ask for? Pros: accomodates groups more

Overall, it's great! 4/28/2005

Hands down the BEST fish n chips in the city, even better than old bag o nails. Great place to be pre and post Blue Jacket games (should the NHL have a season...) Everything is authentically Irish and imported, it has a great laid-back, confident atmosphere. Staff is friendly with good service. There's nothing quite like a Guiness and a basket of fish n chips here... definitely a great place to be. Pros: Fish n chips, Beer, Ambience Cons: can be crowded more

Nice atmosphere 11/14/2002

Nice atmosphere...if you can stand the trendy crowd. As with a lot of the Arena District hot spots - this one is crowded with singles who appear to be much more concerened about looking good for each other than actually having a good time. If you can get past the crowd and actually get a seat in the restraurant - then the experience gets better. The decor is very authentic and supposedly has been shipped straight from Irealand. I had the ""Dam good fish and chips"" with a local CBC porter. The beer was excellent and the fish was pretty good, but it doesn't hold a candle to the Old Bag of Nails Fish and Chips. more

Imported Fixtures? 10/14/2002

First of all, this Pub attracts the typical Arena District crowd. A bunch of ""trendy"" people sipping Bud Lights and pretending they are in Ireland. If you are coming here don't be a wuss, order a Guinness or the house Porter. The food was better than average but not really worth the high price. The fish-n-chips was pretty good but my Guinness BBQ Chicken was a little dry. O'Shaughnessy's, like many other Irish pubs (Brazenhead) seem to think it is necessary to build the bar in Ireland and ship it over here, then pass the costs to the customers. I guess it is worth it for an authentic atmosphere. Pros: House Porter Cons: Expensive more
