Yummy! 3/31/2012

I went here for a friend's birthday, and so we basically had an entire room to ourselves. It was really fun! I got shrimp hibachi and everything was cooked just right! I loved the flavors they used, nothing was too salty. Good thing I like leftovers, because I ended up having to get a to-go box. The chef guy was funny and entertained the birthday girl and the rest of us too. Next time I come here I want to try out the sushi. Some of my friends ordered some as an appetizer and it looked great! more

Great hibachi 1/25/2012

My girlfriend and I went here over the holidays for a friend's birthday. I got the filet hibachi and she got the chicken. The filet was amazingly tender and cooked perfectly, and her chicken was shockingly delicious. I usually avoid chicken at hibachi places because it's usually overcooked and rubbery. The chef was entertaining, service was good, and I'd definitely come back. more

Best hibachi in Tallahassee 10/11/2011

Osaka is one great place. The first time I ever had hibachi, I was at Benihana in Atlanta, so I'd set the bar pretty high from the start. Osaka has never been a disappointment (and I've been to ""eh"" hibachi places over the years). Their filet is so tender you could cut it with a spoon, even their chicken is amazingly tender and high-quality. The chefs (especially the ""Elvis"" guy) are fun and have a great sense of humor. I've seen some chefs that did their little performance as if it were sort of a drudgery for them, so it's nice to see chefs actually having fun with what they are doing. That's the whole point of going, right? They have a location in Destin too, and that place is just as awesome. And they also have a sushi bar. Totally amazing, fresh, beautifully prepared and presented sushi. I've been to Osaka with my fiance, for birthday parties, with other couples, and with the kids. And with my parents. Every experience has been just as cool as that first time I experienced hibachi in Atlanta. more

I'm from Miami, where sushi, seafood, and dining in general are on an entirely different level. After moving to Tallahassee, I immediately tried every single sushi place recommended to me and learned that if Tally is the first place you've eaten sushi, then I probably won't trust your opinion. However, out of all the sushi places I've tried in this city, Osaka is the best. No scary pickled squid. The rolls, if you make good selections, they can be very, very appetizing. A nice feature this place has is that you can customize your own rolls if you want. Also, the entrees that aren't sushi are good too. The sashimi portion sizes are shamefully small (as they are everywhere in this city) and I have paid the same price for the same number of pieces only to have them half a big as they were before some nights. Pros: good entrees & rolls, can customize, nice atmosphere Cons: small sashimi portion, service can be slow, usually crowded more
