Absolutely Awful 1/31/2009

Absolutely horrible. The tuna sushi roll smelled awful, the egg rolls were super greasy, the wontons were all dough, and the steamed dumplings were filled with a weird barbeque mixture. The shrimp fried rice was greasy, but OK. The orange beef was unrecognizable. Threw most of it in the trash. An unfortunate waste of 30 bucks. Plus - when I picked it up, the total came out to 5 bucks more than what I ordered. I was told "Oh, the cash register sometimes doesn't clear everything out. Let me try it again." I left wondering if it was really an honest mistake or not... I understand that they don't claim to serve gourmet Chinese, but I've eaten at my share of these "fast food" Chinese places and this one's by far the worst. I will never eat here again. more

Great food, great price, fast delivery! 6/19/2006

Despite Alison K's scathing review, I highly recommend Orient Express...and I'm not some low-standard-having college kid. The food is good, cheap and delivery is super fast. My roommate and I have eaten there practically once a week for the past year, and neither of us (or anyone else I know who's eaten there) have ever gotten sick. I know someone who gets their sushi almost every day and she has never had a problem...and if raw fish isn't the true test of freshness, I don't know what is! more

Decent, reasonably priced, Chinese Food. 2/21/2006

Orient Express is a little Chinese restaurant located in the heart of Charles Village--they serve the usual Chinese food favorites, General Tso's chicken, Beef with Broccoli, and the like. They also have recently installed a sushi bar as well. The food isn't great, but it is passable. They do have an area to eat-in there, but the atmosphere is certainly lacking. Overall, I think it's worth visiting in a pinch, but there are certainly better options around. more

Service without a smile 2/3/2006

This little Chinese restaurant is best enjoyed when ordered ahead and picked up quickly-- in short, the employees are just as excited to see you leave as you are. Although the fare is of the standard college-friendly, paper box variety, the "old faithfuls" like sweet and sour chicken are filling and good. Just don't expect a smile with your fortune cookie and duck sauce. more

If you are desperate 8/16/2005

Orient Express has decent Chinese food; it’s good to go to if you don’t have any time to cook and you are near the Hopkins campus. Once again, this is NOT an authentic Chinese restaurant, and the dining area is tiny. The food is edible, but risky. Several of my friends have gotten sick eating there, although this has not been my experience. more

Great Chinese food, Good Sushi 8/16/2005

Orient Express has an extensive menu of all kinds of Chinese and Japanese cuisine. They offer delivery, carry-out, or dine-in, and the staff is very friendly and efficient. There are meal specials for lunch and dinner, but even without them, the prices are reasonable, and their delivery is really quick, especially during the week. Their hot and sour soup is really good. more
