OMSI brings out the kid in all of us 3/24/2008

My first trip to OMSI was a school sleepover, 15 years ago. When I was in college I volunteered around the museum teaching people of all ages and demonstrating science to them. I love everything about OMSI - it reminds me that there is a kid in all of us desiring to learn as much as we can about the world around us. Whether it be physics, chemistry, biology, human development, technology, industry, etc., the INTERACTIVE HANDS ON exhibits inspire and help me learn by doing and make difficult or abstract concepts easy to learn and understand. more

WHeelchair Access 12/29/2007

We struggled with the issue of Wheelchair access. While everything was listed as "accessible" the person in the chair could rarely interact with displays. OMSI does not allow a discount for attendants to enter with a disabled person, making it even more expensive. The things that were accessible were wonderful, but the Childrens area is lacking greatly in access. We will return because my daughter did enjoy the things we could do, buit as she gets bigger we will drop our pass because there is not enough she can reach on her own. Pros: Kids play/interactive area Cons: Poor wheelchair access more

It's a great experience 11/21/2006

OMSI is a great learning experience...especially if you have kids. I used to visit OMSI all the time when I was little with my classes and my parents. A few months ago when I visited, I still found it to be interesting. They also have lectures, which are geared more towards adults. The OMSI-MAX has always been a safe bet..they always have good movies. Pros: Great museum, IMAX more

Favorite spot 11/21/2006

I have loved omsi since I was a little kid. Now i am a teacher and am lucky enough to be able to go there on a regular basis. Not only is the museum great but the professional trainings are the best I have ever seen. more

I WISH I WERE A KID AGAIN! 7/11/2003

I remember this place when I was a kid and it doesn't seem to interest me as much as it used to. I would have rather sat in the OMNI-MAX and watched a film, but I think the main part of OMSI is a nice treat for kids. My girlfriend and I went with her neice and she had lots of fun. I would recommend the water area where you can build things and the play area if you have kids. Pros: Variety, Fairly inexpensive, Great fun! Cons: Not enough for adults, Limited experiments more

Something for everyone 8/24/2002

My family has been to dozens of museums all over the country so we have a lot to compare from. OMSI is big but it doesn't seem overwhelming. We are from California where many of the museums are super crowded, expensive and not vey family friendly. OMSI has something for everyone and the exhibits are geared to appeal to a wide range of ages, interest, attention span and mood. This is our 5th visit in the last 10 years and each visit we remain impressed. Great exhibits, super gift shop, lots of bathrooms everywhere!, a special kids room for toddlers, a lunch area for school groups and a cafeteria with food for the junk food junkie or the health nut in every family. For an extra fee you can also tour a submarine or see an IMAX movie or..... It's also located near public transit. Don't miss it! more

Discover the universe with your hands. 7/26/2002

OMSI, once of the hard-to-reach Washington Park, now part of the hard-to-reach under-the-Marquam-Bridge, has long captured the imagination of visitors everywhere. A unique museum, it makes learning fun, using a hands-on approach to the discovery of art and science. Think an amusement park with intelligence. Its new, spacious grounds, affordable admissions costs, the 360° OMNIMAX routunda theatre and the planetarium make this museum one the biggest must-see attractions on the West Coast. Pros: Fun for everyone, Educational, Affordable Cons: Difficult to get to, Expensive snack area more

Awesome OMSI 7/24/2002

OMSI is one of the most creative ideas for a museum that I have ever seen. It is a fun learning environment for kids and is very fundamental. It has great resources and doesn't have the same old boring thing. They usually change the subject, main exhibit every month or so and it becomes more and more interesting. Pros: Fun, Exciting, Interesting Cons: Crowded, Long Lines, hot more

Enjoyable 7/23/2002

The 'new' OMSI is in a wonderful place and the planetarium/IMAX is great especially for rainy days. Pros: Something for everyon, easy parking, on the river more
