BED BUGS BED BUGS BED BUGS BED BUGS BED BUGS BED BUGS BED BUGS!!!!!\r \r And the worst part about it is the management knows about it at the time you move in and doesn't say anything then pretends they never knew. My advice for anyone considering moving in here is DON'T. \r \r My roommate and I have lived here 6 months, on the SECOND night in the apartment I woke up with 25+ bites on my body. After asking management about the previous tenants they pretended they knew nothing about the bed bug situation but after researching I realized that this had been a problem in the ENTIRE building for over 2 years. So much so that they hired a pest control company which they were contracted with to come once a week to spray the infested apartments. We had our apartment sprayed 2 times a month for 4 months (which involved taking everything off the walls, removing all décor, removing all clothes/items from dressers and bagging all bedding every time). This did not eliminate the problem. We did EVERYTHING we could to prevent these bugs from coming into our apartment including spreading DE powder every where multiple times, vacuuming twice daily, removing all clutter and bagging/steaming all clothes/bedding) the only relief we finally found was after taking matters into our own hands and sealing the space between the carpet and the baseboards with silicone. This kept the bugs out for about a month and a half but they have now since returned. Their ""pest control company"" cannot keep up with the infested buildings and this place will never have the problem under control. \r \r Please take my advice and DO NOT MOVE IN HERE. Save yourself the money because this place is far worse then it seems. Management is deceitful and traps you into a bug infested apartment, all the while knowing what they are doing. \r more

Garbage 4/4/2012

I have just moved out after living there for one year. What a terrible taste in my mouth the office at this complex has left me. It's incredible how disrespectful and untruthful they are. Truly an unprofessional bunch that do not care about you or your experience.\r \r In short: Do not live here, it is severely over priced and will be an unpleasant experience for you.\r \r Here is the laundry list of reasons not to live here that only took me a year to dig up.\r \r 1. Single pane windows. With all of the Hospitals in this neighborhood, be ready to hear sirens almost once per hour. Upon moving in I was made an empty promise of an upgrade to double pane windows. It appears as if this will never happen.\r \r 2. No fan in the bathrooms. This one speaks for itself. Also, there is no whole-house fan in any of the units, this provides for poor circulation and stagnant air. If you DO end up living here, keep your windows open all the time or you'll get sick.\r \r 3. It is a very old building an more

Plan on being ******* when you move out!!! 12/7/2011

WHATEVER you do don't rent an apartment from these people. We thought they were nice and had a nice complex at first. We had an apartment for only one year.and paid all of the rent on time. We were actually gone most of the year. We gave them 30-days notice when we were going to move out. The apartment was spotless when we left. When we went down to have them inspect the apartment they refused. They stated that they didn't actually do the inspections themselves, but had a third part inspect and do all of the repairs. In essence they refused to inspect the apartment while we were present. They are now trying to charge us to have the complete apartment repainted, carpet repaired and repairs in kitchen. NO REPAIRS WERE NECESSARY WHEN WE MOVED OUT. They've since submitted their repair bill to collections and now we have to fight it or let them ruin our good credit. It's actually a form of extortion. We either pay their bill or it'll cost us more money to fight it and they'll ruin our credit. They don't have to apparently prove we caused any damages, because they don't bother going after you, they collection agency does their dirty work form them without any proof the bill is legitimate. If you know what's good for your credit, STAY AWAY. and force them to inspect your apartment before you leave. more

Liars and Thieves! Do not lease here! 4/28/2011

If I could give this place negative stars, believe me, I would! These people are liars and thieves. I have never been so mistreated in my life and I'm not the only one I've heard this from. \r I lived with OT8 for two years and on the day that I moved out, I had at least five different neighbors congratulate me and tell me how lucky I am to be moving. \r If you are considering moving to this apartment complex, do NOT do it! You will regret it. Don't be fooled by the fancy lobby in the main building or the great amenities because believe me, they do not make up for the horrendous management that they have here. \r The guy I was working with to sign my lease left on vacation during the week I was supposed to be moving in, never called me or let me know what was going on. I had to go into the leasing office and see what the situation was the day before I was supposed to move in and no one had the slightest clue. \r Within my first month I could have sued them! They had the maintenance people enter my apartment to ""fix"" something without my prior approval of them entering, I never even received a call to tell me they were coming in! The finger print entrance almost never worked, at least two of the three elevators were broken (or locked) on a weekly basis. The laundry card machine in the first building is always broken. \r But mostly it's just the general attitude in the leasing office. They think that they are better than everyone else and mainly one individual in particular is the most pretentious person I may have ever met. And his attempts at being polite only make him seem that much more condescending. I know his name but out of respect for privacy I won't post it here. Which is giving them a lot more than they gave me. \r Again, I lived here for two years, payed my rent on time, every time, never complained and at the end they have the nerve to screw me over. There is a reason there are always moving trucks outside this place. Everyone I've ever spoken to despises One Thousand Eighth Avenue Apartments. \r Honestly, there are much nicer apartments with more respectful management all over the downtown Seattle area that probably cost less than this place. Do yourself a favor and go lease with them. more

i've had better.... 10/22/2010

Worst maintenance ever...just moved in this month and the staff has trouble following thru with any request. Initially called in an updated request from the previous tenant regarding a minor water leak causing the paint to bubble and drywall to become soft during her tenancy, all they did was sand down the bubble, spackel and repaint the area. As of last night, I currently have an active water leak flooding my floor when the apartment above uses their shower or sink; coming thru the lighting fixture above the medicine cabinet and the electrical outlet. Call maintenance and they tell me it isn't an emergency and to call the office in the morning which i have already done. Even signing the lease was a delayed because no one keeps track of anything. Staff doesn't communicate with each other. For the price you pay you dont get the service, nor respect. more

I love this place! 10/3/2010

I moved in two months ago, and I have to say I find the staff to be friendly and personable. I was concerned when I read all these bad reviews, but when I went to check out the apartments for myself, I was pleasantly surprised at how overblown they are. OT8 is all about community, and I've already made friends. There is a great core group of renters here who have been around for 10 years or more, and we always have a good time hanging out in the leasing office with coffee and cookies. I also appreciate that the gym is open 24 hrs., since I'm a ballet instructor and work late hours so I need to go use the gym late at night. The apartments were built in the 50's and the size reflects that, but my apartment is clean and gets great sunlight. more

Awaful Place to Live 3/23/2009

I've lived here long enough to see two different management companies take it over and I have to say that PINNACLE IS THE WORST! The staff is rude and never follow through with simple things like towing the car that repeatedly has parked in my spot. The only part of the complex they actually keep up is the lobby. The "internet cafe/business center" has a computer that hasn't been able to connect to the internet for the past 6 months. The printer is always out of paper and/or ink, which doesn't really matter because you can't even connect to it. Our recycling center isn't emptied nearly enough. The elevators always have problems. The treadmills in the gym haven't been working for at least 2 weeks if not more than a month. In short, DON'T WASTE YOUR RENTAL HERE! more

HORRIBLE Staff and Complete Ripoff 7/17/2007

My lease was up this month and I lived here for 2 years back when it was still called the Nettleton. Management fired all the polite and efficient employees and replaced them with yuppie women who think they own the place. Not only that, but they stuck us with a bill equal to one month's rent ($1000) for 'damages' even though everything was working properly (except missing 1 window lock). Management completely renovated our old apt. and footed us the bill, which was 'estimated' by one of the managers without any signature (unless you count forged ones by management themselves). \r \r In addition, construction has been everywhere from 5th and Madison to right across the street where the new M-Street is located. Parking is a nightmare unless you want to pay $20 a day or get your car towed. Besides the bright furniture and snazzy tv in the lounge (the ONE place they actually maintain), this apartment was a horrible experience to live in and they should really consider hiring a better staff instead of the rude, obnoxious, mood-swinging females that are currently in office and have to be avoided as much as possible (unless you're signing a lease, in which case they are tolerable for their own sake.)\r \r Overpriced. Consider the Lowell Emerson Apt. next door for hundreds of dollars of savings. Pros: Location Cons: Management is Completely and Utterly Retarded more
