Oleg Kaz Salon

I've tried several salons here in the city since moving to Manhattan 12 months ago. I've now found a salon I'll stick with. Phenomenal all the way around. Comfortable, no pressure, professional, friendly, and the best haircut I've had in years. I highly recommend . Great, easily accessible location, very friendly and attentive staff, and an easy going athmosphere make the Salon a wonderful experience! Agata knew exactly how to make me look my best and did a fantastic job with my hear. I am stopped all the time by people asking me where I get my haircut. I made and appointment to have my hair cut with my stylist and suddenly when i showed up at my appointment i wast told that my stylist was no longer there. Since i was at the salon i decided to have my hair cut by another stylist. I explained to the stylist that i wanted just a trim (I had long hair), she said ok ok with her broken english and she went all the way and chopped my hair off shoulder length. I was terrified, i could not even say a word to her because I lost my speech. I paid and left the place running. I will never go there again. For those of you who dont know the stylist dont stop there. Those who know the stylist, dont be surprised when you show up for your appointment, to be told "your stylist is no longer here". I almost forgot about the shampoo time, the sink is uncomfortable and your neck hurts while you are having your hair washed. I give this place thumbs down. Pros: None Cons: Stylists dont communicate well, they talk on the phone while cutting your hair etc. more

I went to the Oleg Kaz Salon because of its high rating on CitySearch. While I enjoyed the atmosphere and reception, I can't say the same about my haircut and stylist. For starters, my stylist spoke broken, incomprehensible english and could not understand a thing I said. I asked to have the back of my hair shortened 1-2 inches and the rest cleaned up. She proceeded to shorten the sides and not touch the back - she insisted that it shouldn't be any shorter after I asked her to go shorter 3 times (which totaled less than a half inch). The stylist cut my hair in about 10 minutes, constantly telling her coworkers how I was her last cut of the day and she couldn't wait to get off. Two days later, not one person has noticed that I got a haircut - not even my girlfriend. She did ask why the left side of my hair is suddenly shorter than my right. There was no cleanup done - there are hairs of all different lengths throughout. She also did a terrible job cutting my sideburns, which are also not even. Basically, she messed up my hair while hardly cutting it - a different kind of bad haircut. I should add that I'm a male with long hair (shoulder length). $35 down the drain; I will need another cut in a week. Pros: Atmosphere, Reception Cons: The Haircut! more

Im a very picky customer when it comes to my hair. I was recommended by a friend to go and try out Oleg Kaz salon. I had my hair color and highlights done by Oleg Kaz himself. He is very knowledgeable about hair color. Clean place and the staff are friendly and cheerful. Gets my approval. :) more
