Old St. Patrick's is one of the most famous churches in Chicago, and one of the oldest. When it was founded in 1846, Old St. Pat's was the first English speaking parish in Chicago. In fact, Old St. Pat's even survived the Chicago Fire, which, as the church proudly notes in its bulletin and regularly in mass, makes Old St. Pat's the oldest public building in Chicago. In addition to being historic, Old St. Pat's is a very welcoming parish that encourages outreach to new members and offers special masses and programs to encourage young people to attend.
