Old City Movers

What a great experience!!! Within 1 year I have moved 3 times and each time with Old City– two apartments and a new home. I initially used Old City when I was in Center City so when I recently bought a house further out into the Philadelphia suburbs it was no question who I was going to call – regardless of the distance. People recommended local movers so I didn’t have to pay for them to get here, but in my mind, there was no question. These guys are worth every single penny. I’ve talked to people who have had nightmare experiences with movers – as for Old City; I would recommend this company without hesitation. I had 3 different crews and each was professional, punctual, considerate and efficient. Out of 70+ boxes and several good pieces of furniture, not one thing was broken, dented or damaged. The owner, John, was always accessible, returning my phone calls and emails within 24 hours. I cannot praise them enough! As for their pricing, they are competitive with many other companies, but honestly, if they were more, I would still pay it. My recent home is brand new so I was nervous about the fresh paint and new floors…but again, these guys delivered everything without any issues. Moving can already be a stressful experience, but with Old City you can divert your worries to other things because they have this covered. This is a well-run, reliable business; if you need movers, this is who you need to call. Thanks John and all the moving crews, you are amazing! more

Just wish there were more than five stars for this one. I am incredibly late with this review. I'm so sorry guys! This move was a change for me. I'm usually reluctant to just turn it over to someone I really know nothing about, as I had an awful experience with one of the large corporate movers once. However, I needn't have worried because these guys are the best movers and most pleasant people to interact with that I've encountered in a very long time. The move time was less than the estimate, even though they put my beds together without my request! I also got valuable information on how to disable a computer that I've been dragging around with me in four moves through 3 states because I didn't want to just toss it! To summarize, this is a company run by people who know how to be very professional and very customer friendly at the same time. In other words, a gem and a rarity in today's world of more money, more money, more money and to hell with everything else! Highly recommended if you want your move to be an awesome, rather than gloomy experience. Thanks so much Old City. more

Old City Movers are the ideal moving company. They are straightforward in their pricing. I did not have to hunt around for hidden fees and contingencies. Jeremy was flexible and accommodated my schedule. Travis and Pete arrived on time and went straight to work with energy and terrific attitudes. They were amazingly efficient loading the truck and careful with all my possessions, including fragile furniture that has been in my family for three generations. They expertly packed the moving truck so that nothing moved, rattled, broke or was scratched during the 800 mile drive. Compared to the moving company that I hired to unload the truck in Michigan, Old City movers was cheaper, more punctual, faster and more knowledgeable handling my belongings. I would definitely hire Old City Movers again. more

This is the second time we have used Old City Movers. The first time, was to move from two houses into one house in center city. The men worked all day in the rain and did a fabulous job. This time we had bedroom furniture delivered and the shippers could not get the furniture to the 3rd floor. During their attempt, they did significant damage to our floors. The shipping company then informed us that we would have to remove our bannister or have the furniture hoisted from outside. We decided to call OUR movers. Once again, Old City Movers came through for us. To our astonishment, they got everything up to the 3rd floor without a scratch. We did not have to remove our bannister or hoist anything from outside. These guys are amazing. We wouldn't think of using anyone else! more

We received 4 quotes and were hesitant to go with old city because they came in the lowest. Boy are we glade we decided to go with OCM! The staff is friendly, prompt, and professional. We cannot say enough about the guys who did the move – My staff was able to rest on moving day while they did all the work! I highly recommend their services to anyone. more

These guys were great! We had an 8am move scheduled and they arrived 10 minutes early. The movers themselves were polite, efficient, and fast, they know what they're doing. We moved a huge one bedroom apartment across the city to a three story house and they did a quick, thorough, and excellent job. I would highly recommend them to any friend of mine and I will definitely use them again when I move! more

I chose this company to move from a two bedroom apartment to a house. A friend of mine had used the service and recommend the company. When I made the reservation, I was asked how many rooms I had, and received packing instructions, which I followed. The men arrived on time, began packing, and after two hours, informed me that their truck was full, and they couldn't take anything else. There I stood with my infant daughter... and items, including an air conditioner, still in my apartment. With all of their experience. they should have known upon arrival that they could not fit all of the boxes and other items into the small truck they had driven and opted to come back with an appropriate vehicle. Instead, they did approximately 4/5ths of the job, and left me to deal with everything else. Very unprofessional. When I asked what they proposed I do, the movers informed me that I would need to find a way to get the items to the new location myself since I had a car. At $110/hr, and a recommendation from a friend, I expected a complete move and professional service. To pay $330, and still have to make several trips, with my daughter in tow, to move items was outrageous. Never again. more

I am so happy that I used Old City Movers this time!!!\r \r The entire process was so painless, from the scheduling to the move. The guys arrived bright and early ready to work. They were enthusiastic and super pleasant to deal with. They got my one-bedroom apartment move finished in two hours and took great care of my stuff. \r \r The biggest challenge was getting my queen-sized adjustable bed up into a high loft ... they were up to the task!!!! It was pretty difficult but they got it done!! \r \r I will DEFINITELY use Old City Movers for my next move. more
