Fantastic 3/29/2011

We and our dog, Lily, have received nothing but exemplary treatment by the staff at O'connor Road Animal Hospital. Lily is a 3 yr old terrier mix and over the past few weeks, we have to make a number of vet visits due to Lily being in contact with a puppy that sadly later died from Parvo (Lily, thankfully, only had a mild form and was successfully treated), as well as a decayed and painful baby tooth that had not fallen out on its own. Without insurance, our bill could have been much higher had we opted for a different veterinary surgery (I called around for prices), and even though O.R.A.H was the least expensive, it certainly gave the maximum level of care and compassion. They offered to board Lily free of charge for the night before her tooth extraction and the day after the surgery, they gave us a courtesy call just to check on how Lily was and if she was recovering ok. That little extra made all the difference. I also think that the receptionist named Summer really does have a name that fits her lovely personality and demeanor. Always smiling, always cheerful and very helpful. She is a credit to the practice. more

Long wait times 1/15/2010

cancelled my appt due to long wait times, two weeks in a row. the first week we were told we'd have to wait 1 hour, when we showed up on time for our scheduled appt time. The next week I called ahead to see if they were running on time, and they refused to tell me over the phone. It was obvious they were not running on time. I decided to find my old vet. I understand this is also an animal hospital, but if people call ahead they should have the common courtesy to let them know whether they are running on time. Why make an appointment if they won't even honor it? more

Great place 2/11/2009

I can understand the point of view from the person who posted the negative response, and if that is indeed what happened, it was a very isolated incident. It's true, Dr. Brown doesn't own the hospital anymore, but they should cut him a little slack, I hear heaven keeps him pretty busy. I have not seen hardly any turnover since we started going there years ago, and the staff is more than helpful. Summer is our favorite, she reminds my wife and I of the bubbly nun from sister act...it's impossible for her to be down. Anyway, most remember our pets, and are happy to look up what food we always buy them since we can never recall. We highly recommend this place. Pros: Very friendly staff, in and out quickly, extremely accomodating Cons: Nothing terrible, although nothing really sets them apart aside from their attitude. more

long time client 12/27/2008

We have been with O'Connor Road for many, many years. Dr. Brown was our veterinarian until he passed away. The staff he left behind has been great to that clinic. We enjoy going to visit them and my cats receive excellent care. more

Telling all my friends 11/7/2008

I had a great experience with this hospital. I am new to the area and their facility is near by. My dog became ill and they worked me in within a couple of hours knowing that I had never been to them before. The staff was very friendly and caring, it was a fun place to be. I will be taking my now very healthy dog back to them for as long as I am in San Antonio. more

Horrible Care 8/30/2008

we took our beloved dog named Pepper into Oconner rd because he had been a bit lathargic. We were told he needed an operation that was fairly routine for dogs his age. He had a common gastro problem and with the operation he should recover just fine and be back to his happy self in just a week or two. He never came home. Apparently he was injected with the wrong medication and died during recovery. Even worse we were not notified so we showed up to pick him up at wich time a male vet assistant said so matter of factly.. ""Oh Pepper died , didnt anyone call you? "" Needless to say we do not recomend this hospital. We researched a little futher (yes I realize we should have done this first) and found that the hospital is no longer owned by Dr. Brown and is now run by a handful of very young vets and rookie assistance. The best they can get for minimum pay. Owned by a corporation some where in Ca. There was no one person to answer our questions or explain what had gone wrong. Everyone just pointed fingers at all the others involved. Please for the mercy of your loved pet go else where and use a practice that is owner operated. Pros: the building is new Cons: so is everyone in it. more
