I went in for a Gentleman's Getaway (Sea Scrub, Meltdown Massage, Seaweed Facial) and added the Gentleman's Mani/Pedi as well.
The facility is nice and clean. I did not feel that anything unsanitary or sub-par. Water/tea/dried fruit/nuts were plentiful, along with magazines and comfortable seating. The lockerroom was small, but again, very clean, and all the therapy rooms had a nice, simple ambience.
Marietta's Facial was fantastic. She let me know what was going on at all times, and I felt very taken care of. Granted, I have nothing to compare it to, as it was my first facial -- but it was such an enjoyable experience and the results definitely show. I need no other proof.
Irina was hilarious! Again, I'm not an aficionado of manicures and pedicures, but the results are great, there was no discomfort, and she was fun to talk to as well. She did seem to have the sniffles and a little cold, which was slightly off-putting, but it wasn't an issue I was overly concerned with.
I enjoyed Max very much, though I wish he had pinpointed the areas I specified during the massage. I attribute this to the actual package, though, which included the Meltdown Massage, not a Deep Tissue, which is probably more of what I was wanting. The heating pads were nice, and I would definitely return to Max, but not for a Meltdown. I found the ending temple massage to be too light and too long; I was a little bit more bored than relaxed.
The scrub with Hala was fine, although not a service I would necessarily return for. I felt I spent more time with the water heads than with the therapist, but that said, I didn't mind the treatment. Just wasn't my cup of tea.
Overall, my day was quite relaxing! I must say that a lot of these reviews are harsh -- but one must consider the clientele. It does consist of many upscale New York City folk who perhaps have a higher expectation of a place like Oasis. Also, it is much easier to complain than compliment ...
