This is casual dining at its best. It feels like a pub but eats like a restaurant with its dark paneling and a dark-green ceiling.
By all means try the Reuben. The steak and chicken salads are a filling value. If you get there before the day’s dinner specials have been devoured, the chicken and biscuits, city chicken and grilled pork chops are all good choices for a plateful of home-style comfort. The fish sandwiches, of which there are a couple of options including perch, also are good.
Reasonable prices are always a bonus. Soups and chili, $1.95 to $3.50; sandwiches, $2.50 for grilled cheese to $4.95 for the Reuben or turkey Reuben; dinner specials, $6.75 to $6.95; steak, grilled chicken and grilled Cajun shrimp salads, $6.50; steaks, $11.95 to $12.95; Italian dinners, $6.95 to $8.95.
