Oakland Gyros

My whole family likes this place! My 6 year old and 18 year old both love the food as much as my husband and I. It is convienent, affordable, and the people are always nice! The only thing bad is the parking on the East Side is not great! Most people park acroos the street in the parking lot for Chin's. more

Oakland Gyros is my favorite Gyro place in Milwaukee County. Their meat is always fresh, never dried out. You get a huge amount, in fact I always order a second bread so that I can have a second gyro for lunch the next day. I usually order a gyro and a salad, for the 3 of us our total is usually around $15. We stopped in once for my Dad's birthday as he was heading back to work and they let us bring in a birthday cake. They even offered us a knife and extra plates. I have never had rude service, but I have had my order mixed up a few times when taking it to go. They have always fixed the problems with an apology and a smile, usually throwing in an extra little goodie as a sorry. I rarely drive by without stopping, they are just so good. It is a really good thing that they are not near my home or I would be broke and fat! LOL Overall it is great food and good service. more

Oakland Gyros next to Axel's is one of the best East Side eateries. It popular with the UWM students as well as anyone who has been drinking at the nearby bars to fill their tummies. The Gyros themselves are delicious! It's amazing how quickly they go down, and how much food they will give you. There are other healthier options there too, if that is your thing. more

The original location on Oakland is a landmark to all the college students. And for good reason - awesome gyros! Now we eat at the south side location. It's newer, nicely decorated, kid friendly, and the food is just as good as the original! Everything at this place is great. Gyros are packed with meat. The pita, veggies and feta are scrumptious. Greek salads - to die for. And let's not even get started on the baklava!!!!! YUM!!!!!! The south side location also has a drive through for those times that you are on the run. This is one of our favorite restaurants in town. Check it out! more

I don't even eat gyros but I love this place, because everything else that I have had was delicious, from chicken pitas to cheeseburgers! The late hours make it a convenient stop, and the service is really fast and efficient as well. It is a great place to stop in at any time of the day. The prices are pretty reasonable too! more

I may be biased because I grew up on these things, but Oakland Gyros honestly has the best gyros I have ever eaten. They aren't shy on the meat, and it isn't over processed and disgusting like some places. If you don't like meat, I suggest sharing because you will get a heaping of meat on your little pita. The best part is their cucumber sauce that is TO DIE FOR!! They have it sitting out in those squirt ketchup/mustard bottles so you douse your food in it; you will want to. The gyro plate is really the best way to go,but only if you're really hungry or planning to share. The rice pilaf is just too good to miss out on, and the feta and olives are good too. I'm not the only one who loves this place, and you'll see that it's packed at night around 2 in the morning. more
