Outraged to read the critique from the meat-washing twit cafecritic. Ottomanelli's is hands down the best butcher store in the greater NY area, if not the entire Northeast. Example... we bought a beautiful rolled rib roast for Sunday lunch, and they lovingly hand-wrapped it in beautiful snowy white fat and close-tied it for us so it would cook beautifully. And boy, did it ever! Every steak, rack of ribs, quails egg, rabbit, duck, and veal chop I've bought here has been nothing short of spectacular. If you don't have a clue how to cook it, just ask any of the lovely young men behind the counter for suggestions and they will give you a flawless step by step for perfect results. Thanksgiving turkeys are foolproof, and everything down to plain old boneless skinless chicken breasts are perfect.
Classic, old school, exceptional and a remaining gem on this tourist-plagued street.
If I ever meet you cafecritic, I'll grab you by your ear and waltz you down there to apologize to these wonderful people!
