I have never been to malaysia but I did graduate the French Culinary Institute and I know what good food is, and this is it. Excelent selection, may lack on consistancy sometimes....

Malaysian Food in brooklyn... 8/17/2005

If you live in Brooklyn and are looking to try something different, you should try Nyonya for malaysian cuisine. The place is located in the center of Brooklyn's chinatown area (8th avenue). The place is a little cozy place and gets crowded easily....the longest wait is about 15 minutes. The food there is pretty delicious. Try the indian pancakes for an appetizer and the ABC shaved ice dessert. Also, try the pearl noodels its very inexpenisve and the plate is a good portion for two people. Prices are pretty decent and the staff there are pretty friendly and would be happy to explain what the items on the menu are. During busy times the wait staff unorganized when taking orders, so be sure to signal for them to take your order. I think this restuarant also has another place in manhattan's chinatown. If you are looking for some place romantic i wouldnt recommend this place, it can get a little loud. more

Nyonya Malaysia Cuisine 8/5/2005

The food here is excellent. I especially love the pearl noodles. They are very soft and slide on your tongue. It ocmes with shrimp and squid, but you can order yours without either if you're not crazy about seafood. The only thing is I think they are becoming stingy with their portion sizes, so it moderately expensive. The restaurant also has a variety of drinks here. I always order the longana drink, which is to die for. The atmosphere is very nice as well. Everything is wooden and there is interesting artwork around the place. It's a very intimate setup and a nice place to take anyone. more
