Nouveau Trattoria

This is not a place in which you rush in and rush out. The table is yours for the evening, and - agreed - you will spend an evening there. However, if you manage to adjust your expectations, you will find wonderful food and perhaps the sweetest owner/chef in town. The food is all top-notch, and you can expect that there are only a certain number of "servings" of each item for the evening, which attests to the freshness. The presentation is also agreeably simple, concentrating on presenting the best ingredients in a pleasing way. It's a lovely place, but certainly not one you should go to if you are in a hurry. After reading a good review, a friend and I went to check the place out. It took an hour for the soup to come, then an hour for the entree, and the servers were incredibly inattentive. Although we were told that if we didn't want the prix fixe 4 course meal that we would be charged only $19.00 for the appetizer and entree, we were charged $22.00 per person. Im not sure if its the graciousness of the waiter, the homely feel, the amazing food, or the fact that the chef personally came out to our table to ask if we enjoyed our meal that did it for me, but Nouveau Trattoria has risen to the top of my list. My husband and I went to Nouveau's about a year ago and had a "Bad Dinning Expereience". Recently we thought maybe they where just having a "Bad Night" so thought we would give them another try. Well they where having even a "Worse Night". Our first clue should of been on a Friday night, in Palo Alto we could walk in and be seated! At 8:00 at night there where 5 tables incluing ours. People came in aftr us and where served there soup before our appitizers came. The food and serves where The WORST I have ever received. My husband tips very well usaully 30% or more........he did not leave a tip. Only the 2nd time in 15 years I have seen that happen. Needless to say we will not be giving them a 3rd try.
