Truly a personal favorite! 11/27/2009

Notaro's has been a special favorite for the five years I've lived in the area. This is where I take any new visitors to New York. A week ago I had a surprise birthday dinner party for my wife at Notaro's, and Angelo the owner, Peter, our favorite server, and all the Notaro's staff made it a great celebration. I'm going back in another week for a dinner with a group of colleagues. Pros: Marvelous service and excellent food more

Great Price & Lots to Eat 8/26/2009

Visited here with tourists and they loved the price fix menu and price. Portions were huge and they enjoyed their meals. Personally, I thought the taste could be better. Service was great and you could actually hear your conversation. This is a great find! Pros: Price, Portions & Service Cons: Taste could be better more

Wonderful Italian Food, Great Staff! 2/1/2009

My mom and I returned this evening to Notaro after not having been in several years (I used to live in the neighborhood) and I must say, the food and prices were just as great as always. The food is delicious, and their are certainly a lot of options, including a ton of specials. We went in for the ""early bird dinner"" and for around 20 dollars you get an appetizer, entree, dessert and coffee--very few places in the city offer such a deal on food that is of such high quality. The portions are truly generous as well. What is really a standout, however, is the staff. They are extremely welcoming and make the experience very warm and cozy. My mom and I will be back - it's the perfect place for an intimate dinner with family and friends! Pros: Great value, yummy food more

A real find in NYC!!! 1/24/2009

Great food, great prices, beautiful room...a real find in NYC. Has one of the largest menus around and eveything I've had has been superb and I've been going about once a month for about two years. Tuesday nights even have music - a whole evening of fun. Great service as well. more

Hidden Treasure 1/22/2009

An amazing restaurant! The food was amazing. A delight and complement to Northern Italian cuisine. The restaurant was quiet and serene, quite typical for a Wednesday night almost anywhere in the city, but this restaurant shined to present it's self as the 5 star restaurant it is. Their dirty grey goose martini was top notch and their service was even better. The waiter made my girlfriend and I feel as if we were the most important customers there. It was also my birthday, and we were served a tiramisu that was amazing, all while the waiter, manager, and maitre'd wished me many more birthdays. Not only a must try for anyone in the Murray Hill area, but also for the entire city. They have made a patron for life! Pros: Awesome service Cons: No wine by the bottle, just by the glass. more

Great Italian food and great American Music 1/21/2009

I discovered this restaurant through a business contact 3 years back. I since bring all my business friends and family here for dinner. The food si consistantly very good. I love their fish and ask the waiter Peter what is special for the night. I am never disappointed. The music on Tuesday nights is the best deal in the city. The Larry Luger Trio plays there and are topnotch. The singer Sandy Jordan is so good she should be famous. She has friends who drop by and sing also and they are all so good it is amazing to see so much talent in one room. I try not to let a Tuesday go by without a dinner at Notaro. The host Angelo is the best and the service always gracious and really good. Pros: easy to get to and has music more

What a night!!! 1/20/2009

Our Favorite NY spot for good food and good music 1/20/2009

We have been going to Notaro for 10 years and love it. A few years back they added music on Tuesday nights. We go there as many Tuesdays as we can to hear our favorite Gershwin and all the top American Songbook hits .......The Trio is fantastic and the singer Sandy one of the best I have ever heard. Famous folk drop in also and sing. We caught Jane Powell a year back. Pros: parking can be found on the street more

Big Mistake - Really bad food at astronomical prices 8/11/2008

There are so many great Italian restaurants in Murray Hill, like Pino's, La Giara, Alba's, with authentic Italian chefs and staff and delicious food. I decided to try Notaro's. It was dark inside, and the service was awful. For almost $25, I got an antipasto type sandwich and a soft drink. Pros: Awful Food - Astronomical Prices more

Worst and Most Overpriced Italian food 7/31/2008

When you go to an Italian restaurant (I was persuaded to go by someone who said they had improved their food, since I didn't like it my first try) you don't expect to come out with an MSG headache...not after spending 18 dollars on linguini & clam sauce and finding out for that price, that they don't use fresh clams. Worst part - Manager admitted they now used canned sauce, did nothing for me, and said he would have the owner call me. No call. Soooo many great Italian restaurants in the neighborhood...... DON'T GO Cons: Canned food/ extremely high prices/low quality food more

Editorial review from GrubHub 5/7/2008

This place was great! we ordered at 10:30pm the delivery eta was 11:15pm and they got it to us at 10:50pm. The food was fresh and tasty. The leftovers didn't even make it to the next day. Will definitely make this a regular stop. more

my favorite italian restaurant 10/19/2007

Everything from the decor to the service makes Notaro?s my absolute favorite Italian restaurant. I take everyone I love. The Notaro experience begins with a warm greeting by staff at the door. I personally love to sit at the back area next to the fireplace (this can very romantic when with a significant other, and is very cozy with family and friends). One of my favorite dishes is the Shrimp Scampi followed closely by Bocconcino de Pollo. And to satisfy my sweet tooth, I have the tiramisu. Exquisite! Notaro has unbeatable prix lunch and dinner menus (with a new early dinner menu from 4-6:30) that are comprised of a great assortment of selections (meat, chicken, seafood). Everyone makes a genuine effort to make your experience satisfying. The truth is that Notaro has left a lasting impression, because no other restaurant compares with the quality of food and service that Notaro offers. I definatley recommend Notaro?s to everyone. Enjoy! Pros: ambiance more

really good food live jazz mondays and tuesdays 8/9/2007

The food, the service the ambiance are wonderful. It is always comfortable friendly and on Mondays and Tuesday they offer really great entertainment. A singer named Sandy Jordan sings with top of the line musicians and brings in her singer friends. One better than the other. We try not to let a week go by without dropping by on a monday or tuesday. Last winter met the famous Jane Powell there. We never know who we will get a chance to meet. Love their fish dishes, pastas and the filet is the greatest ever. Pros: food live music more
