Nilgiris is under new ownership and management. It is probably the most authentic Indian store that caters to folks who live north of Sunnyvale. Its clean and bright. The produce is fresh. The prices, though not marked, upon investigation are very competitive. The shopping experience is very pleasant and doesn't make you feel sorry that you are Indian. The Pani Puri corner takes you back to College days in India. You can hang out there with your friends and linger without feeling claustrophobic. The collection of movies is great and for those of us whose only recourse was DeeDee's in Palo Alto, Nilgiri provides a viable and better alternative. more

worst manager/owner 8/4/2006

1st of all, the manager/owner who works there is the rudest person ever...he hire people to work for a week or two and then let them go without paying any money (no pay for training)...that is just bad..karma will come back to you....i stopped going to this store after all this more

They offers pretty decent variety of India groceries. As this is the only Indian store near Sunnyvale-Mountain view border they charge little extra for the goods. Also the selection offered is not that great. They offer Movie rentals for most of the regional languages in India. Also they offer nice collection for festivals like Rakhi, diwali etc. more

Just ok 9/23/2005

This store offers pretty good variety of India groceries. But the rates are slightly higher then other stores. It could be because its the only store in the area. The selection offered is not that great. Though they offer DVD rentals like most of the other Indian grocery stores. I would just rate is as OK. U won't miss anything if U have not been here, more

Indian Grocery - great location 8/9/2005

For all you sunnyvale and mountain view residents, Nilgiri's is a great, quick stop for Indian Groceries. They also case Hindi, Tamil, etc DVDs for rent and have a good selection. I like that I don't have to drive down El Camino all the way down to India Cash and Carry, just to do a quick pick. Prices are very reasonable. Vegetables are generally very fresh. Only downside is that in the evening there may be a line at around 6-7pm. more
