The employees at this establishment are mean people.
My sister used to be a regular client. She has an uncontagious skin disorder known as psoriasis (related to dandruff) and upon her first visit explained her condition to the employees in order to put any possible fears of theirs at ease. She visited the salon many times. When she showed up for a recent appointment, an employee turned her away in front of the other waiting customers. She was told that she was "no longer welcome because of her skin problem."
She wasn't told at the time that she scheduled the appointment. She wasn't called in advance. She wasn't spoken to in private away from the other customers. She was unnecessarily publicly embarrassed.
I called the salon to find out why this happened and was told that two customers were afraid for their health and said that my sister should not be accepted in the future. I explained to an employee who identified herself as "Shanaz" that the condition is not contagious. I pointed her to medical websites that clearly support that statement, and I mailed printouts that she said she would show her manager and concerned customers. She also said that she would have the manager call me, call local dermatoligists, and talk to customers who expressed concerns. She would also invite my sister back and offer an apology.
I waited for one month and never received a call, so I called back. I explained the situation and asked if she had seen the information and letter I had sent. The manager said she was busy and would have the owner return my call. It has now been over one week, and I have still heard nothing.
Obviously, my sister went to this business for a service that was affordable and acceptable quality. I can't dispute those qualities in this business.
However, I think the extremely callous, insensitive behavior of the employees of Nikhar Beauty Salon reflects very badly on them. To act out of ignorance is one thing, but when information is presented to educate and assure, then there is a measure of responsibility and accountability that should be taken. I am very disappointed by their inability to do the right thing and offer a sincere apology.
