Chinese lunch pleases all in our party 2/12/2010

Four of us ate today at Mandarin for lunch. Although I live north, I have always kind of liked this restaurant. However, I always hope when I come here I don't get mugged in the parking lot. It is ordinary, yet good. The soup is very good, and everything else is decent. We were seated and served promptly and everyone was satisfied so I am not going to ""dish"" them. Sorry for the pun. In addition, the cashier let us all pay individually which I am sure is annoying for them. We appreciated that the accommodated us. Pros: Reasonable prices and quick service Cons: you need a guide to find the bathroom! more

Do you like katchup? 1/17/2010

Asked for all white meat and were told everything was already made. That should have been our cue to move thourgh the exit and pay for only the soup and ice tea. Garlic Chichen tasted as if the sause was katchup and the General Tso's tasted just 2 steps bellow ok. It's was inexpensive. At lease we now know where not to go. Pros: Hot and Sour soup was edible Cons: We couldn't finish our meals so low on calories. more

Watch your wallet in this place. 1/15/2009

Mandarin provides decent enough Chinese food for a reasonable price. However, I will NEVER GO BACK. The problem is I was debited $44.53 from my debit card. My meal for two was $14.53 and I wrote in a $3.00 tip. I happen to catch that I was charged $44.53 the next day when I was checking my bank account.\r \r No big deal, things happen. The problem is they would not fix it. I called them and ""tried"" talking to one of the staff. She said no problem, come in and she would fix it. When I got there, she would not fix it. I brought my receipt and the bank statement. Pretty simple math. Her and the waitress that served me argued about what to do and said they would talk to the owner and call me. I left them my phone number. Owner never called. Followed up several days later and talked to another girl who said she was the owners daughter. She would make sure it was taken care of. Never heard anything back.\r \r STAY AWAY from Mandarin on Oltorf, plenty of better honest Chinese food places to go to. more

Don't judge a book by its cover 11/17/2005

Mandrin's is one of those restaurnts that are great to go back to. The hot and sour soup is the best and all they have great lunch and dinner specials, plenty to choose from. The plaza in which it is located is not attractive but their food is awsome. Pros: Good parking, Inexpensive, Prompt service Cons: Bad location more

Consistent and Delicious 9/9/2005

I've been a regular at this restaurant for over fifteen years. The food is consistently good, and the service is quick and courteous. They handle large numbers of people during weekday lunch, and they have good take-out for people on the go. Pros: Inexpensive, Generous Portions, Consistent more
