This is a staple in New Haven, from the Ravens to now the Cutters, it is great to catch a game for under $10. Great food, old stadium, great game. A picinic area that can be rented for business outings or birthday parties. Fireworks on Friday nights. Something for everyone, fun for the family. Catch a game this summer. more

New Haven County Cutters replaced the former New Haven Ravens a few year ago when the Ravens left the Greater New Haven Area. The stadium is in definitely need of repair or just updating. Other local teams in the area have brand new stadiums, and it's sad that Yale Field (i.e. Yale University) lets their "Yale Historic Field" go to such shambles. As of this post, even the water fountains were not operable (they are literally broken into pieces). Yale should be ashamed to have their "historic" site look this way. Parking is a breeze and is located in an upper and lower level lot. The food is typical stadium food (hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries, etc.) and also has some good BBQ food located in Joe Grate's BBQ area. Food can be a bit pricey, but money is saved with low cost admission. They have frequent specials for admission and food, so call or check their web site for details. This is a great attraction for families and children who don't want to go to the usual museum or movie theatres. more

A Mixed Bag 8/9/2005

Minor league baseball in New Haven always seems to struggle, and the Cutters are no anomaly. The stadium is a little on the dilapidated side (you could call it historic, I suppose) and isn't what you'd expect if you frequent more modern minor league stadiums. Crowds are small -- no more than a thousand or so -- but baseball is baseball and the stadium is comfortable if a bit arcane. A Cutters game is fun, but it's certainly not a New Haven hot spot. Doubtful the team will last more than another year or two. more

Local baseball 7/7/2005

As much as some of their promotions pain me (actual midget wrestling), it's still fun to head to the ballpark for a beer and a double header on a balmy summer night. The baseball isn't great, but it's still a lot fun, and cheaper than an evening at the movies. more
