I don't usually write reviews, but after an awful experience with this physician I felt compelled to warn other patients. The purpose of my visit to Dr. Amy Perlmutter was to start the Accutane program that was recommended by a highly regarded skin care expert, Dr. Zein Obagi. His office is in Beverly Hills, CA \r .... but I live in New York. In order to take Accutane you have to see a dermatologist every month, and have blood work done in order to get your prescription. I decided that it would be easier to find a local physician in New York instead of flying to California every month. I found Dr. Amy Perlmutter on Cigna's physician referral list. \r \r I have been to some of the best dermatologists in the world including Dr. Frederick Brandt and Dr. Zein Obagi, so I am familiar with how a thorough skin care examination should be done. I found Dr. Amy Perlmutter on Cigna's physician referral list. \r \r I have been to some of the best dermatologists in the world including Dr. Frederick Brandt and Dr. Zein Obagi, so I am familiar with how a thorough skin care examination should be done. Dr. Amy Perlmutter barely glanced at my face before telling me that she did not recommend Accutane for me. She didn't even shine any light on my face to illuminate the skin for a close inspection, or use any magnifying devices to thoroughly examine my skin. She also didn't look at my back or inquire if I had Acne anywhere else on my body. If she would have taken the time to do a complete and thorough examination, she would have discovered that I have Acne all over my back. I also have overactive sebaceous glands, which she made absolutely no mention of. That was why Dr. Obagi recommended Accutane for me in the first place. \r \r I was completely disgusted by her subpar examination. She took a quick glance and immediately disregarded the recommendation of a highly regarded skin care expert with twice as much experience as her. She then suggested that I try Retin-A to clear up the acne that was causing hyperpigmentation. I explained to her that I was already using 1% Retin-A and had been doing so for years. I was still having breakouts! If Retin-A was the solution to my problem then I wouldn't have been in her office! \r \r I explained to her that I previously completed a cycle of Accutane with excellent results and that I wanted to follow Dr. Obagi's recommendation for another cycle of Accutane. She then went on to say that my skin looked great and that she would not be prescribing Accutane. Newsflash! Do you really think I would be in her office if my skin looked great? My skin is blotchy and uneven from breakouts. Every time I have a breakout it leaves dark spots on my skin. It so uneven that I sleep in makeup when I have a nightcap. I wouldn't be caught dead anywhere without makeup on! \r \r She then went on to recommend a Glycolic peel for my hyperpigmentation. I asked her about a ""TCA"" peel, and she said that was too strong for my skin. She went on to say that a TCA Peel would definitely cause more hyperpigmentation. I told her flat out that she did NOT know what she was talking about! I use to get 20% TCA Peels every month a few years ago and that was the best my skin has ever looked! The ""TCA"" peels got rid of my hyperpigmentation, and my skin was flawless. I use to get so many compliments when I was getting TCA peels regularly.\r \r Recommending an over the counter ""Glycolic peel"" without treating the underlying skin condition that is causing hyperpigmentation is a complete and utter joke! The hyperpigmentation will continue to return no matter how many peels I have if I don't stop the acne. This is where accutane comes in, as it gets rid of the acne. No acne = No hyperpigmntation for me. There is a reason why Dr. Zein Obagi has one of the most successful skin care lines, and is a highly regarded expert in skin care. It's because he knows what he is talking about. He has been practicing for over 35 years compared to Dr. Amy Perlmutter's 3 \r years.\r \r Dr. Amy Perlmutter is a complete joke! I left her office feeling like my time was wasted. more

Billing Specialist they are NOT! If you dispute a bill they want YOU to do the leg work to prove the law in wich you are protected. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING!!! They are HIGHLY over priced and not resonable when confronted with the far higher prices over multiple locations near by. To the point they are indignant. Since futher treatement they are not as good as the Technicians bloated ego thinks. STAY AWAY!!Work done was a VERY small tatoo for removal. more

My skin, which has always been an issue, never looked so good. The entire practice is very professional, the front desk, the assistants and the doctors. Extremely patient and listens to all my concerns and discusses options with me, doesn't just talk at me! Visits to the office are more like a trip to a spa then a doctors office. I've been seeing Dr Colbert for about 8years. He's helped me so much with my rosacea and also just keeping a good skin regimen going. Not only do I go there and get a great dr but I also feel like I'm going to the spa. The Triad happens to be my favorite treat, but there are so many to choose from that just help make your skin look amazing! His staff and other Drs are very kind and extremely helpful. Dr Colbert has the magic touch and the other doctors in this office are lovely as well. I have had the TRIAD twice and was told that i was ""glowing"" several times over the course of the following week. Also, botox, juvederm, radiesse, all administered with the magic touch. worth the $. more

I have been going to see Dr. Colbert and his team ever since I moved to New York CIty, just over 6 years ago. As an actor, my skin HAS to be in super-great shape...and thanks to the New York Derm. Group... it's lookin' pretty awesome. :) Their offices totally feel like you are going to the spa...and their treatments (specifically the TRIAD) are my JAM. Sometimes it CAN be super-busy ...but that's because they are an incredible place and are in HIGH demand from us New Yorkers. :) PS. I can not believe some of the negative reviews I have just read re: NYDG below. Specifically let me just address: there is nothing POMPOUS about these folks. I'm from the South/Midwest of USA and they are NOTHING but courteous and professional. AND Dr. Colbert is as warm and lovely as it gets. THE END. All I can say is ""Thank God for Dr. Colbert!"" 6 years ago I came to Dr. Colbert hoping he could help me with my skin. I had dark spots from acne scars and a dull complexion that was not cute! As an african American women, I wanted to make sure he understood the skin I was in. Not only did he understand how to treat my skin type, he made my skin glow with a healthy radiance that people notice to this day! His wonderful treatments like the Triad facial, is my every 6 weeks beauty treat. I invest in my skins nutrition just like I take care of my physical body with exercise and proper diet. The staff is friendly and supportive( shout out to Lauren who does my Triad treatment) She's awesome! Dr. Colbert saved my skin! Six years later I'm still singing his praises! LOVE IT! more

The most critical & praiseworthy thing I can write about Dr. Colbert & his practice of skin care, is that no one can tell that my skin has been ""tweaked"". My skin is healthier looking & YOUNGER looking, but so delicately & so naturally that my confidence is boosted & people tell me I radiate vitality & agelessness. I feel that way on the inside & because of Dr. Colbert's advanced approach to skin care, the inside & the outside are the same. And I know that all of the applications he uses, are NUTURING my skin, rejuvenating it on a cellular level. He looks at his patients as individuals & finds solutions that are cutting-edge, yet safe, & as painless & effective as possible. His staff treats you like a princess, caring & answering any questions & making sure that you have comfort & attention during all the procedures. more

I also go for his amazing dermatalogical new and wonderful treatments. From triad facials to fraxe.l treatments. I would not trust anyone but dr. David Colbert with the my skin. He is a unique doctor both for his medical expertise for serious matters, and for anything needed to beautify and improve ones skin.
