Looking to go VEGAN? This is the place! 5/3/2009

The food was outstanding. Most vegan restaurants have a sampling of food...not much to choose from whether its good or not, but New Hamony had a multiple listing of pages in their menu! So much to choose from and everything I had was AWESOME! Pros: Plenty of Food, Low on Cost! Cons: The only drawback is finding a place to park more

BEST place in the WORLD! 3/20/2009

Since Ming sold KINGDOM, he focused on NEW harmony and he made it the best it has ever been!!! I was served these white , hot, and soothing napkins to wipe our hands with . The food was the absolute best , and everything was very nice , formal, and orderly. The employees have uniforms which look very nice. They asked me questions with manners. The food was just UNBELIEVABLE. Pros: BEST vegan food in philly, great service, n delicious food more

Great Food! 12/31/2008

New Harmony vegetarian restaurant is a wonderful establishment located in Chinatown. The menu is just as extensive as any chinese restaurant but it is entirely vegetarian friendly. The faux meat is delicious and the scallion pancakes are definitely worth trying. They have excellent service and a moddy interior. Grade: A+ Pros: Food, Service, Price more

perfection. 6/9/2008

i've eaten at countless vegetarian/vegan restaurants across the country, and this is EASILY my favorite. the food is amazing, plentiful, and well-priced. the staff is courteous, helpful, and friendly. they offer ""special dinners"" - which include an entree, soup, and spring roll for only $12 - an offer which can't be beat. Pros: amazing food, low prices, great service, helpful staff, good for dates Cons: there should be one in every major city more

Fast, Excellent Kosher Vegan Food 7/3/2007

New Harmony Vegetarian looks nondescript, with its spray-painted overhang that reads, ""New Harmony Vege"", but once you walk inside it immediately sets itself apart from the myriad mediocre restaurants that litter Chinatown's streets. Some would (and have) called it ?too dark""; I call it great atmosphere. It's a dimly lit, intimate setting perfect for either a quick lunch or long dinner. For the vegetarian or vegan, this restaurant is a haven of infinite possibilities. Everything on the menu is kosher vegan, so there is no need to ask whether or not there are any animal products in any of the dishes. Everything I have tried has been excellent, brought out hot within ten minutes. The food is very well priced; a typical lunch special includes more food than could possibly be eaten in one sitting and averages five to ten dollars. The flavors are balanced subtly and beautifully. I highly recommend the Jumbo Shrimp with Walnuts (and I don't even eat the walnuts!), lychee duck with pineapple, beef bun (for $1, even if you don't enjoy the controversial potato bread-like bun, it's worth ordering), hot and sour soup and the Choco-Ban shake. If you're not adventurous, try the General Tso's chicken- an old standby prepared and presented beautifully in a cabbage leaf. Many items on the menu come with spring rolls, rice and a small dessert at the end of the meal. I can't say enough about this restaurant: in a primarily omnivorous world, most vegetarians are happy being able to find something, anything to eat. This food is so many steps above simple sustenance that it will be very much appreciated. Pros: ambiance, value, fast service, great food Cons: parking is sometimes difficult to find more

great service and great food 8/9/2006

All you eat dim sum is awesome because it is the best platter. I had a party of 15 people in this restaurant and as a result I had one free New Harmony T-shirt. Pros: everything more

This is our favorite restaurant! 11/7/2005

My 7 year old daughter is a committed ethical vegetarian and we as a family keep kosher. So this restaurant is perfect for us, since all of us can eat here, and we all love Chinese food! If you are a meat eater you will not even miss the fact that its faux meat! I actually prefer this to real meat, and I'm not a complete vegetarian. We love their lunch menu, which is available every day, not just weekdays. Our family wants to hold a fundraiser for pandas conservation for PANDAS INTERNATIONAL, and we are hoping to have it here! Pros: great food Cons: little parking more

YUM! 5/8/2004

We went with a large group and had ""banquet"", which gave us two of everything (dumplings, appetizers, soups, entrees, etc) to try. It was great, and wound up costing us less than 20 bucks per person. Even the suspicious non-vegies thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't think some of them even knew. Dumplings and ""orange Beef"" were particular hits. It's also certified Kosher. Pros: great selection , reasonable price, Chinatown! more

One of my all-time favorites 11/7/2002

I highly recommend this restaurant! As has been mentioned in other descriptions, ambience is not the reason to go here - the fantastic food is. As a vegetarian, I am happy to find a place that can impressively reproduce my old favorites without the meat (try the General Tzo's ""chicken""). The spring rolls and sticky rice dumplings are also wonderful. Every meat-eating relative and friend I have ever brought here has been impressed by the food. This is an intimate, consistently good restaurant whose prices are quite reasonable (a typical bill including tip costs $20/person). This restaurant does not serve desserts but after all of the food you will want to try you won't have room for dessert anyway. Try this restaurant, you won't regret it! (A note to people who do not eat dairy - I believe this restaurant is vegan.) Pros: fabulous vegan fare, inexpensive, consistent in quality Cons: lacks ambience, need to pay to park more
