Mariner's Museum 8/20/2005

After visiting the USS Wisconsin, stop into the Nauticus and view the maritime wonders. For a small fee you can see the entire museum but the main floor of the musuem is free. Great place for the kids. They are able to learn about marine mammals and marine life. It is a great time for adults and kids alike. more

Interesting Displays 8/8/2005

If you're interested in maritime history, Nauticus is the place to go. This museum is fairly large and interesting, and houses many exibits on the history of the shipping industry. With Norfolk being a traditionally military town, there couldn't be a better place for this museum. The USS Wisconsin is one of the main attractions at Nauticus, and the tour of the ship is extremely interesting and educational. The staff is friendly and helpful, and admission prices are only slightly high. Parking is a bit of a pain since there's no actual parking for the museum, but the Waterside Parking Garage isn't far from the building and is easily accessible. Highly recommended! more

Nice place to visit, but very expensive 8/2/2005

Nauticus has a lot to offer. But unfortunately, I think they want children to attend, but there isn't much for them to do. They seem to be trying to get more child oriented exhibits, but there is not nearly enough to keep a child's attention for too long. The Battleship Wisconsin is a very neat place to visit, but you are waiting in lines, and paying additional money to see that also. I did like the Imax theater and I really enjoyed their exhibit on Natural Disasters. But again, for an adult this is a great place to go, but for children, they will lose interest rather quickly. If you are retired military, I think you would especially enjoy their exhibits. more

Our Naval History 7/24/2005

Nauticus museum was built to look just like a military ship and they really did a great job on the architecture. The museum is mainly about our military and Naval history, but they also have a lot of great exhibits for the kids as well. Additionally, Nauticus changes up their travelling exhibits which usually offer up something to do with science or nature, giving the museum a different angle and new things to explore. The museum is located downtown right near Waterside, so it makes for a great place to go on a day trip to Norfolk. more
