I went in on Sunday for a pedicure and was appalled by their complete failure to disinfect ANYTHING in the salon. I was the only one in the place, which should have been my first clue that there was a problem. To start, the nail technician did not use any kind of disinfecting additive in the water during the pedicure. I thought that it may not be a big deal, as long as he disinfects between clients, right? Well, it turns out that he does nothing between clients but drain the water! Then, he took the metal tools that he used on me and simply rinsed them with water at the sink and placed them on a towel to dry! When I asked him what he used to disinfect the tools (which is required by state law) he pretended that he couldn't speak English, even though he had been making small talk IN ENGLISH the whole time. I did some poking around and could not find a UV oven or any liquid disinfectants, and their store-room door was open so it's not like he was hiding this stuff in the store-room. At this point my nails were already painted so all that was left to do was wait on them to dry. You wouldn't think much else could go wrong, but then he took the toe separators off and put them back in the drawer! That is completely illegal--not to mention gross. I asked him if he re-used the toe separators and he admitted that they do! Where does athlete's foot grow? Between the toes!!! Eww!!!
Pros: No wait time
Cons: An infection waiting to happen, polish chipped off the next day
