I usually see the same person for massages and have been happy, but when I wanted to squeeze in a massage and had to book with another massage therapist, my experience was not as ...

Above and Beyond! 7/13/2007

When I first setup my appointment the receptionist at the front desk overwhelmed me (at first) with the different types of massages they offered. But I was impressed-- He was very good at explaining the differences and went into great detail for me. He asked me what I was looking for and recommended I get a deep tissue massage. Upon arriving, I was welcomed to a clean, modern style lobby. Looked promising! The staff was really friendly and accommodating. I got there a little early and was seen as soon as I filled out the paperwork. I met my massage therapist, Gina and she was really friendly and I knew I'd be in good hands. I thought it was cool she asked me what music I wanted to listen to. I chose classical of course, I play trumpet. The massage rocked! Right from the start I was in heaven. I've had my share of massages before, but none like this! She asked me what areas I was having the most trouble with and she did what most therapists don't do -- She worked it til it was all better! I can only afford to get a massage if a real bad knot bothers me for a while. Usually with other therapists they would work the area for maybe 10 minutes and move on to a full body massage. Which isn't bad, but I really loved how Gina worked it all the way til it's death! Awesome job! I badly wanted to do a follow up the week after just to have her smooth out the rest (we ran out of time), but I'm broke and live in Georgetown. I came all the way downtown because Myo had good recommendations on CS. I gotta tell you, it was worth every penny! Thank you Gina! I'll be back! Pros: Clean, knowledgeable staff, great value, great therapist, good vibes Cons: Not in Georgetown =$ more

Adelyn Botto will put you back together again! 6/28/2007

Adelyn Botto has been my massage therapist for 5 years now .... well before she arrived at Myo. The best thing about Adelyn is she knows exactly what needs to be done and where - even more than I do. Her massages have always been very tailored for what is going on with my body at that moment. She checks in but doesn't need to as her pressure is always perfect. Myo itself is a cute, nicely decorated little place - very comfortable and relaxing from the moment you walk in. The entire building stands out in the neighborhood as it is Industrial Art meets Feng Shui (especially the beautiful courtyard), and the things around it have yet to catch up. Pros: No fluff - all thorough massage. Cons: Makes me want to go every day. more

Highly Recommend Shelly Smith 6/12/2007

Myo Massage is outstanding. I have been seeing Shelly Smith, and she is just wonderful. She has really resolved some chronic stiffness and pain from a job that often requires me to sit in front of a computer. She does an excellent job on my neck and back, and although I was leery of an abdominal massage hers was fantastic, and same goes for reflexology on the feet. I highly recommend her. Myo is also very reasonably priced. Added bonus: She also gives you great stretches and exercises to do between massages, and they are very flexible about time of appointments. Pros: Shelly Smith, Great Atmosphere & Massages more

Adelyn works wonders! 5/21/2007

I've had several deep tissue massages, and Adelyn really knew how to work (she even used techniques no one else had ever tried before). I also tried cranial sacral massage because of problems with TMJ. It was my first time, and the next day, there was no tightness or soreness at all! It was fantastic!! Thanks, Adelyn. more

First time but not the last! 5/17/2007

Last week I had my very first massage. I didn't know what to expect but Catherine at Myo Massage made my visit better than I had ever expected. She made me very comfortable and informed me of the reasons she was doing specific techniques and the benefits of each. I felt refreshed and had a new appreciation for massage and ended up scheduling another appointment for this week! Pros: Great Location, Affordable, Calming Environment, Variety of Services more

Best massages anywhere 5/13/2007

Catherine's deep tissue massages are the best massages I've ever had. Her work on tight shoulder and neck muscles has made a huge difference, and she has solved my chronic low back pain. My husband agrees 100%. We're very glad Myo Massage has come into our lives. I recommend them to everyone. more

Incredible Knowledge 5/6/2007

I have had numerous neurological, pain, and stress related issues over the years including bad knees, bad ankles, chronic back pain, chronic neck pain and being unable to sleep to name but a few. I have been to many of the "best" massage therapists in Austin, but MYO is certainly at the top. I have never seen the numerous techniques that MYO Massage have brought together under one roof including deep tissue, reflexology, craniosacral, and lymphatic drainage. With their help I have been able to alleviate many of my chronic pains. Beyond that, the new spa is clean, spacious, well designed and immaculate. Additionally, they are often able to squeeze me in for late appointments. What more can be said other than MYO Massage and the staff are at the top of my list for a great massage. Pros: Clean, friendly, knowledgable Cons: I can't afford to go more often more

Masterful Massage & Results 5/3/2007

Update April 08: For a weekend conference, I arranged for four out of town colleagues to visit Myo. Each of them put this at the top of their massage experiences, including spas in Houston and Dallas. You can't do better than a Myo massage. [First review] Massage has not been a favorite of mine: although relaxing, little changed for the better physically - That is until Myo Massage . . . First time visit was theraputic and enjoyable, with substantial improvement just from first session. I will be returning and encourage others to try them for serious massage . . . Pros: Very attentive - both at the desk and in the massage more

A great new location for the best massage ever! 5/2/2007

Catherine and Levi are now located in Saltillo Lofts, close to downtown in a well designed space. Enter to a reception/massage chair area arranged with attention to detail. The treatment rooms encourage total relaxation. And then come the proferssionals. Catherine does a comprehensive intake evaluation and then gets to work. She evaluates my posture and gait to determine how best to relieve the pain in my knees and hip. Her patient and encouraging care has greatly improved the strength and range of motion in my chronic and acutely painful shoulder. Her lymphatic drainage work gently eases the inflammation. Levi and Catherine have strong hands and a confident touch. With your input they will work out a plan which includes body and structural work. They will find soreness you did not know you had in a total body massage if that is what you came in for, and you will leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. You will quickly realize that you are being treated by committed, friendly, intelligent, professionally trained and experienced massage therapists when you come to MYO Massage, and you will return often. Go to see them soon! Pros: MYO Massage is open daily, even for walk-ins! The best therapists in Austin Cons: None more

Max Massage Relief ! 4/28/2007

Super professionalism 4/28/2007

I don't take my clothes off for just anyone! Catherine made me feel very comfortable. She listens so well, and takes my whole health into consideration before begining. Once she felt my shoulders she asked if I was in a hurry, because I had so much tension she felt we needed a little more time to really do it right. I really appreciate her willingness to treat everyone as the individuals we are. Each massage is different because each person is different day to day. Thanks so much Myo! You are a lifesaver. Pros: clean and considerate Cons: none more

What a treat! 4/27/2007

I was given the gift of a MYO Massage. It was fabulous! I was greeted warmly and, after a short questionnaire and interview with my therapist, was treated to the best massage I've ever had. A wonderful and relaxing experience. I only wish I lived closer!! Pros: Definite thumbs up! Cons: Parking seemed limited, but I wasn't driving! more

Great Couples Massage! 4/27/2007

I bought my girlfriend and I a couples massage for her birthday. Just walking in started the relaxation; it's a beautiful, clean, professional space, and we got to be in the same room with two exceptional therapists. (Which I loved- being able to hear her sigh with contentment was the best present for me!) I had some aromatherapy which put me in a great mind space, and my massage was super relaxing. My girlfriend had some shoulder problems which Catherine did wonders on, and she said it was the best massage she's ever had! Thanks so much for making our day! Pros: Therapeutic massage, Location, Music selection more

Get a massage here! 4/16/2007

I really look foward to my appointments at MYO massage, and I feel healthier when I leave! I definitly recommend MYO massage- great therapist and a lovely, relaxing atmosphere, not to mention a huge selection of music to choose from during your massage.. Actually, I have an appointment in 8 hours and 9 minutes! I can't wait.. more

Great Hands 3/22/2007

I've been a loyal customer of Myo's owner Catherine Collett for several years now. She has wonderful hands and a serenity that puts me completely at ease. Don't hesitate to put yourself in her very capable hands for an hour or two on a regular basis. It's really made a difference for me. more

The Best Massage Studio in Austin, perhaps the country... 3/22/2007

The folks at Myo get it. The studio is quiet and serene without screaming EXPENSIVE. The level of expertise extends way beyond "relax me" and "my leg hurts" and the sessions are actually affordable on a working person's budget. I come to Austin once a year for SXSW and always drop by Myo for a massage. It's the perfect end to a crazy week. I've been begging them since they opened to launch Myo San Francisco, but until then, they are a gift to Austin and those of us who call it home each market. Enjoy it. more

Best massage in Austin. 2/21/2007

I have been going to a therapist at Myo Massage for a couple of years. I can say with sincerity that this is the best massage I have ever had. The best part is her ability to offer different types of massages or her ability to focus on different trouble areas with unique techniques. If I need a deep, penetrating massage...no problem...if I need a more general relaxing massage...no problem. The therapists listen and react to your communication. Great people that care about making sure you receive the type of massage that you want. Pros: Ability to offer different types of massage. Cons: Absolutely none. more

Simply Magical Massage 2/13/2007

My boyfriend and I both work 14 hour days at least a few days a week, both very physical jobs. I wanted to treat us both to a much needed and very indulgent romantic day. I booked a couples Valentine's Day package with Catherine and Levi after doing some investigating of other spas in town. We walked in, were greeted warmly and ushered into a beautifully decorated and very hip little east side space. Nothing though, prepared me for the sublime nature of our experience. These people are magic. My pain melted. I have had many massages and I can safely say I have not enjoyed one more. It's been two days and I still feel fantastic. My boyfriend was floored by the roses, candles, champagne and fruit they had ready for us in a private room afterwards. Oh, and he's still giving me thankful kisses too... Thank YOU Catherine and Levi! Pros: Staff !!! Cons: I don't live upstairs more

implicitly trustworthy , thoroughly knowledgeable..and fantastic touch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1/28/2007

I am a lowly courier in Austin and I spend 70 hours plus driving in Austin Traffic every day . If you are from here, you know what kind of pressure that can place on a body . I was in such pain in my legs and back and shoulders when I started looking for a good Massage Therapist that any price did not matter, Just getting free from the cramps and all was my only concern. I first met Catherine at a Texas Rollerderby match over on 51st St. last yr and was so taken by a 15 minute massage in a chair that I knew she had the skill and stregth in her hands that was what I was looking for. Guys.. its better than being married !! I am now back on a twice a month regimen that leaves me pain and cramp free and I can relax after my longest drive on Sunday of 12 hours straight and be fit and ready to go on monday for another 2 weeks. I cannot find adequate words to express so will simply say you will be glad you trusted Catherine and Levi with yor health. It is the best money I have spent, and I know you will agree. minister_of_justice . Pros: fantastic location and beautiful new building ,easy to get to from any where.. Cons: I almost miss the old location , however, it was not as close to everything as this one is.. more

Best Massage Therapist 1/22/2007

I have cronic neck pain due to compressed disks. Catherine is the first massage therapist who was effective in treating it. Not only is each massage slightly different depending on what needs work, but she is always doing continuing education and learning new techniques to provide the best possible service. I highly recommend her, she is professional, knowledgeable, and very strong. Pros: Effective pain relief Cons: None really. more
