Where do I start? My (then) girlfriend and I started going to My Moon three years ago, we got married...

Worst

We ate there this past summer and were not impressed. It's too bad, we had high hopes for it. The food was okay but sort of bland. A little pricey for Brooklyn. Not worth it. P...

Great for intimate meals 1/2/2012

The atmosphere and decor here are amazing. If only the food and service could match that quality. Despite that, this is still a good place to bring a date, but can be a bit cramped for larger groups. more

NOT A PLACE FOR A WEDDING 11/27/2011

ALTHOUGH THIS MAY BE AN ACCEPTABLE EATERY THEY ARE CLUELESS AS TO CATERING. AT A WEDDING ON 11/26 FOR OVER 100 PEOPLE THEY HAD 1 SURLY BARTENDER. NOT A SMILE WAS TO BE FOUND BY ANY SERVER. THE DJ WAS CLUELESS. HE PLAYED LOUD MUSIC DURING THE CEREMONY. THEY RAN OUT OF ENTREES. THEY RAN OUT OF COFFEE. THE RESTROOMS WERE DIRTY. YOUR SHOES STUCK TO THE FLOOR AROUND THE BAR. THE PORTIONS WERE SMALL AND CAME OUT LATE. BREAD FOR THE TABLE HAD TO BE REQUESTED.I AM SURE THE BRIDE AND GROOM OVERPAID .I RATE IT ZERO STARS...AS A MUSICIAN I HAVE PLAYED THOUSANDS OF WEDDINGS IN HOMES , CATERING HALLS, PARKS AND RESTAURANTS. I WILL REMEMBER THIS PLACE AS BEING THE MOST AMATEURISH ATTEMPT I HAVE EVER SEEN. more

I agree with MikeJames54 11/21/2011

I was back to read the reviews on this place hopping to read something good, the reason is because still after 3 or 4 years (may be more) I remember eating here some of the best plates in my life; Mussels, lamb chops, flank steak and a long list of others dishes with some of the best soups that you can find in New York. In response to MikeJames54 I have to say that the service was never good in this place but at one point the food was really great, and that is the reason why you can see most of the old 5 starts comments, I believe that the recent good comments are now been made by management or some other people with a very poor palate, I more

Do Not Go Here, Unless You're a Sadist 5/23/2011

I can't even believe the positive reviews I'm seeing on City Search right now. This must be the result of some PR firm that specializes in promoting restaurants or something, because this place was a disaster in every way shape and form.\r We booked a table for 6:00 PM which wasn’t honored until well after 7:30. We had a large party, 15 people. Restaurants normally take this into consideration and have a table ready or perhaps look in the appointment book and realize that they couldn't possibly accommodate a party of that size at that particular time. In the restaurant game this is called ""taking a reservation."" You do that so people aren't standing in the middle of your establishment for an hour and half wondering what the story is. Due to the extraordinary wait the owner comped us a round of shots, which would have been great if any of the members of our party were from a fraternity. Nothing goes better with a watered-down Ketel One Martini quite like a lemon flavored shooter made by a 17-year-old lethargic bartender. 45 minutes later, half the shots were still on the bar, accompanied by our grumbling stomachs.\r Off to dinner. 95 minutes after we arrived we were finally treated to some bread and water. I'm pretty sure you can get both of these items faster in Guantanamo Bay. The waitress was rude, forgetful, and completely averse to taking any kind of drink order. My guess: since gratuity is included with the bill her level of involvement, either physical or emotional, wouldn't affect the overall outcome of her tip. (My Moon tacks on a very generous 20% gratuity to all bills.)\r The wait staff rushed through the ordering process, which gave many of us the false impression that the meals would come out quickly. The ""food"" took well over an hour to come out from the kitchen. When it finally did come, it was cold, tasteless and in almost half the instances the exact opposite of what the guest had ordered. The waitress was even ruder when asked to reheat several of the meals, which were somehow cooler than room temperature. Several of the people at the table, such as myself, decided to simply eat as is, because the wait for hot food would no doubt take us well into the next afternoon, if it even came at all. In one instance a twenty year vegetarian was given a pork chop, which the waitress insisted that she ordered.\r Dessert. I didn't order any or even look at a menu, it was close to 11PM on a Sunday and I was disappointed in the food, drinks and the service. I decided to chalk the whole experience up to a very pricey loss. My friend ordered a coffee; she's a glutton for punishment and probably grew up in a house where domestic violence was a regular occurrence, so maybe she was homesick after her experiences at My Moon. Of course, twenty minutes later she received a lukewarm cappuccino, which she promptly sent back, once she could actually get the attention of a waiter, which at that point of the night was a small miracle.\r The Bill. 20% gratuity off a $720 tab is $144.00. Roughly translated, our waitress got $28.00 for every order she took correctly OR $14.40 for every order she took incorrectly; depending on how you look at life. \r In closing, do not ever go here. Yes, the décor is lovely, but it’s not lovely enough to justify the mental assault of the chef and staff. \r Cheers, biscuits, & bruschettas,\r Mike J. more

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE 2/18/2011

I am confident that good reviews are coming from the company management as this restaurant, is by far, probably one of the WORST I have ever been to. And I am the kind of person who can handle most things and even can overlook a lot of deficiencies. I ordered only an entree, and the waiter recommended the steak or the Lamb Chops because they were ""fresh"". Such strong recommendation always has me question whether it is a true recommendation or they have to move that product quickly. I had a hunch not to believe him but I ordered the chops anyway. The biggest shock was their size. I have eaten at some fancy places, such as WD40 were the price to size ratio is extremely high, but nothing like this. My lamb chops were almost NON-EXISTENT. I was almost a joke, as if the kitchen staff cut off the meat, ate it for lunch, and served the rest of the bones to me as an entree. To make matters worse, there were NO sides that the bones (yes about 5% of the weight was attributed to the actual meat) came with, so I had to order a side of mushrooms, which shocked me again. It was literally 4 little mushrooms on a plate for $9. COMPLETE RIP OFF. more

very surprising 5/7/2010

I was pleasantly surprised as I walked in through the iron gate. It is a very charming and romantic old building with mature decoration. Outdoor patio is wonderful. For sure the best place to take your date or have a group gathering. The food is very delicious with a Turkish twist. Staff was very friendly, great service and very reasonable price for what you get. I will definitely be back and recommend My Moon to everyone. Pros: very charming, delicious food, good price Cons: generous drinks, got drunk qiuckly more

Great place&friendly people 5/6/2010

I must say its a great place to eat. I love their turkish dumplings that is served in thick garlicky yogurt, browned butter, mint and red paper flakes.I was at mymoon last wknd. Even they were full house, the wait staff was attentive & I was very happy with friendly service. The interior of the space is cool, high ceiling with fans. I must also say, I love the outdoor area, its a great place to chill, I love to go there especially right after work with my friends.I'll be going there very often from now on. more

Horrible! 2/20/2010

I went for Valentine's Day this year. From the minute we stepped in, there were issues. We had looked on their website at the Valentine's Day menu. It had many enticing choices and had a great price per person. When we get to the restuarant and receive the menu, half the items are gone (many of them fish and non meat items when I don't eat meat). Also the price was 15 dollars higher a person. We asked about the difference in menu and the waiter told us it was last years menu. I told him I looked at it 3 days ago and he said they forgot to change it (very unprofessional!). \r As I am eating my appetizers the bus boys are looking over my boyfriend's shoulder watching me to see if im done yet (very uncomfortable) and of course the minute I put down my fork they rush to grab it although I hadn't ate half of the tiny portion I received. Next comes the entree, a very small lobster tail. It was cold and overcooked, I couldnt even cut it. I returned it to the kitchen as I expect to be served hot, well cooked food and they give me another warm one, which is tinier and still over cooked. Note to owner if you ever read this: teach your chef how to boil a lobster. Last was the dessert . I ordered a chocolate heart and get a tiny strawberry heart instead. We still have bus boys everywhere anxious to get us out and we get the check and they included tip for two people eating (when the menu clearly stated it would not be included). Can't a person tip based on service anymore?\r I've never written a review before but felt compelled to share this as it was one of the worst food experiences I have ever had.\r Cons: bad food and service and website misleading more

Great Place, Great food, Great service 2/15/2010

Went there on February 14th / valentines day - we enjoyed everything. Food was delicious, drinks were generous, decor is amazing, music was just right..\r \r I cannot wait to go there again and specially during the summer to enjoy their garden.. Pros: Drinks, food, decor, service, music Cons: Not in manhattan so what more

Very disappointing 1/24/2010

I was really surprised at how disappointing this dinner was. A couple recommended this place to me and it was terrible. Food, service, and wine was bad. I had the filet mignon and baby lobster tail. The lobster was overcooked, pure rubber. The steak was bland and tough. Actually, it was also tiny. With the neglectful staff, I can't say I'll ever go back. more

Waste of money 11/4/2009

The place is really nice but the food now is too bad and way expensive. A couple of years back the food was great but somehow the manage to turn thing around. I went back hopping to eat like the old times and I got disappointed one more time,....the last time.\r I'm done with this place. Pros: If you dont eat you save your money Cons: Just for drinks, owfull food more

Nice Environment, Bad Food and Waiter 10/24/2009

After spending $80 on so so appetizers, our waiter who had an obnoxious fake smile throughout the evening, and who made horrible jokes yet wasn't there when we needed him, made a scene because he thought his tip was too small. This is unheard of in a classy place- any of it. A tip is a gratuity, a sign from the patron of what they thought their service was worth. I don't like fake smiles, intrusive attention with no food or drinks attached, five random men lathered in hair gel wiping the table, giving us bread even though I said I didn't eat it, taking plates with food still on them, yet never there with our wine or beer when we needed it, ect. There was hardly anyone in the place either. To make a scene because you don't like your tip, after someone spends $80 on appetizers, is classless, rude, pathetic and unprofessional. Pros: Nice Environment Cons: Bridge and Tunnel Treatment more

WONDERFUL Place 6/24/2008

I don't know what to write, I just can't wait to go to Mymoon again. After small, crowded Manhattan restaurants Mymoon felt like a palace.. Great athmosphere, big beatiful soothing garden, tasty food and delicious drinks.. \r We ( 6 of us ) made a reservation for friday night, our table was ready on time. I had moonlight cocktail which was yummy, my friends loved their drinks and even though it was busy night we didn't wait for anything, service was perfect.. \r We shared bunch of appetizers. Grilled calamari, mussels, Turkish manti were delicious..\r I ordered lambchops and I would highly reccommend it.. \r This restaurant is huge, inside is gorgeous and very cozy. I think Mymoon has the best outdoor seating in this town. \r Pros: Ambience, food, cocktails, service, garden garden garden more

Wonderful! 5/7/2008

I have been to this place and i can say that this is a superb place. Food and ambiance is great but they should work on service little bit more. more

Great space for a date. Average food now. They HAD something good going on and lost it. 4/22/2008

oooooh boy!. It was quite a while I was not back at this place. I hate when they change menus or cooks, The food is not what it was. I'm not happy with the change. Will not recommend. Pros: Sunday Brunch was good, then change to horrible. Cons: Dinner was excellent now is not. more

Highly not recomended. Mediocre & expensive food with mediocre service. 3/25/2008

In my book you have two strikes and you are out. I was a fan of this place for the decoration and the food. On Valentines day I took my girl and she did not like the fillet mignon and overcook lobster, neither I like the awful new mussels they had in the menu, last week I was back hopping the kitchen had improve and a got a disgusting watery soup with vegetables and a fishy tilapia plate, any regular can soup is better and a lot cheaper than what they sell here and the was just plain. I will never go back for another disappointment. Pros: The place is beautiful Cons: too many to mention more
