Terrible Place 11/22/2009

Well, where do I start. The day I called for directions, the young lady who answered the phone was so rude, it should have warned me enough but I decided to go take a look anyway. Big mistake! The prices were ludicrous, the man who owns the place is the rudest person you could ever meet. I should have knocked him out because I'd love to see him KO'd, but I did not hit him. He has grey hair, kind of tall, large gut and he'd love to rip you off so be careful folks!! more

a good new & used cd/lp store 8/18/2005

Mushroom records is well located for Tulane and Loyola University students, right on Tulane Campus. It has a good collection of new and used cds, with an especially good local music collection. It also sells t shirts, glassware, and other accessories. It has a very large collection of used records, although they are so badly organized that trying to sift through them can prove quite a task. Additionally, boxes and crates of lps are scattered all over the floor, making many of the lp racks impossible to reach. Basically the Mushroom is good for cds, just ok for lps. more

Located in Uptown, Mushroom Records is a wonderful shop to get lost in. A great place to find rare import CDs or used CDs. The sales people are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about Music. They also offer clever t-shirts and great gift items. The place just has the exact atmosphere that you want in a record store. They also sell CDs from local artists. more

They also openly sell bootlegs, but have miraculously managed to avoid being busted, but that's another story. I have actually found one or two decent LPs/CDs here, but for a real record shop, try the Magic Bus in the French quarter. more
