Great Shows, Special Exhibits 12/28/2006

This is a large museum sure to provide hours of entertainment for the family. They have lot of hands-on type of learning experiences for the kids, special exhibits, an Imax theater, and a planetarium. The museum can get expensive since things like the shows, Butterfly Place, and the 3D cinema are extra. Parking is also very expensive. This museum is part of the reciprocal museum pass program where you can get free admission if you're a member of another member museum. If you have a family and think you'll go a lot, consider getting a membership (and Premium members park free for 2 hours). Members get some passes as part of their membership. The laser shows at the Planetarium are highly recommended. Fridays nights, weather permitting, you can go to the observatory. There are lots of dining options and an excellent museum shop. more

Boston's Museum of Science has a good varied hands on exhibits 6/3/2006

I spent many hours happily browsing through exhibits that ranged from a collection of different mechanical parts, on gem creation, on math, a neat computerized fish tank, and others. I found there were many activities suitable for children, but adults were not neglected. I bought the city pass so was able to do quite a few of the major attractions in Boston without costing me a lot of money. The city pass is well worth it and so is a visit to the Museum of Science. The subway makes it easy by having a stop right at the museum.+ more

Fun Science for All Ages 5/21/2006

The Museum of Science is fascinating even if you think you couldn't care less about science. From the huge T. Rex outside to the actual model of the NASA space shuttle (into which you can climb!) it is just cool, cool, cool. Those of us who grew up with "What Makes and Ocean Wave Wave?" are always pleased to see the wave tank with the lever you can use to control everything. The electricity shows are scary and mesmerizing, the animal section is surprising, and the upstairs section on deformities might give kids bad dreams - or educate them. Pricey, but remember you can get free passes ahead of time at your library. more

Funnest Ever! 5/19/2006

The Science Museum would be my top choice for somewhere to go when I need something to do on a rainy or too hot day and am feeling eager to be mentally stimulated. I love everything there, the new exhibits are always interesting and hold my attention and teach me new things. The old exhibits I can see again and again and don't get bored of them. I love the exhibits about the human body, and the lightning maker things! EVerything there is well thought out and has immaculate attention to detail, great for all ages too. more

Museum of Science 5/7/2006

Museum of Science is a dedicated science museum with a fine library and gift shop. They have a great mix of permanent and floating exhibits spanning all major fields of knowledge, discovery and exploration. Whether journeying here as a school group, family or solo, it is a key stop on an any tour of Boston. Don't miss the IMAX Theater. Boston is a showcase for some of the leading national IMAX attractions. The museum tends to favor mainstream science at the disadvantage of natural history, environmental and biological sciences. These are crucial and they are cutting edge disciplines more

A wonderful place for kids of all ages 2/28/2006

The Boston Museum of Science is a great place to visit whether you're young or just young at heart. They have a really interesting set of exhibits, and there will surely be something to grab your attention--they have exhibits on biology and animals, as well as physics--including a huge Van der Graff generator that makes indoor lightning! They also get some really cool travelling exhibits that come through their galleries from time to time. Another highlight is the Omni theater--a very unique experience, very different from the more popular IMAX. more

Great Museum for Any Age 2/5/2006

The Museum of Science is great for kids on field trips and adults of any age. The exhibits are always fun and educational and are ever changing. If you haven't been in a year, there are definitely new things to see. The Museum of Science has an educational hands-on approach allowing children to experiement with many of the exhibits themselves. This is an excellent thing to do on a rainy day. Also highly recommended are the special limited engagement exhibits- right now they currently have one highlighting the technology and science behind the movie Star Wars. Prices are a little bit high for this museum, but tons of discounts are available if you look for them. Also there is a restaurant on the premises which serves excellent Sunday brunch. Who could ask for more? more

Wonderful Experience!! 10/11/2005

What a wonderful experience! I have not been to the Museum of Science since I was a kid and I recently brought my son there. I thought he would be a little young at six year old to enjoy himself. To my surprise, he was a great age. They had a cool senses exhibit where you could record your voice and listen to it. They also had a life six t-rex in the dino and fossil exhibit. The Museum of Science has something for everyone. more

Great Place 10/8/2005

I have been here several times with my children. There is always something new going on. You could visit this museum every day for a week and there would still be stuff for you to learn! The gift shop alone could keep my kids happy for an hour or two! Across from the gift shop is a spot where you can get lunch. Lots to chose from! more

a fine place to take the children 9/19/2005

The Museum of Science is a technologically oriented museum. Kids will appreciate the robotic dinosaurs and light demonstrations. Also, there is a really big 5 story Omnimax Theater. The Museum houses over 300 exhibits and is a great place to go if you have never been there. Kids under 3 get to go for free. more

A Museum Worth checking out 9/9/2005

I have been to this particular museum many times. There is a fairly large number of exhibits on a variety of subjects. They do have some I consider less interesting/entertaining but again, they cover different topics, so most people are likely to find something they like. I enjoy alot of their live animal exhibits, and they currently have a very beautiful butterfly garden there. Also, they have a fairly good offering of different types of shows, IMAX, planetarium, etc. The food is overpriced, and the ticket prices can add up, but if you budget appropiately it can be a rewarding day. more

Great for all ages! 8/26/2005

This is a great place to go if you are any age! Your kids will love it and you will find some of things very interesting. One of my favorite things to do in September/October is take my college ID over there and get free admission on college night. Tip for college students: go on this night and you can get free admission to IMAX movies, laser shows, and so so much more! My favorite thing to do while there is the lightning show and the optical illusions exhibit. (Be sure to check out the dolphins painting!) more

Love it 8/24/2005

I love this science Museum. It has go to be the best one that I have ever been to. It is great for kids of all ages. They will have a blast with the many things to do there. Just make sure you get there early so you are able to see everything. This is a must not miss if you have the chance. Again, it is a little pricey but after leaving you will see it was very well worth it. more
