Musashi Japanese Steakhouse is a waste of your time and money. The sushi was prepared so poorly and tastes terrible.

Avoid at all costs! 3/9/2010

Don't be fooled by the website this restaurant runs. This is a trashy strip mall restaurant. The interior looks filthy ... much like a Japanese "greasy spoon". We made a reservation for 8pm and arrived only to find they had no record of our reservation, though we had called just minutes before we arrived. Pros: Great for those that like "dives" Cons: Poor customer service, filthly restaurant more

Musashi Japanese Steakhouse 11/12/2009

After reading the reviews for Musashi and seeing it on The Travel Channel, we decided to try it for lunch today. I should have walked out when the couple behind us walked out because their food was cold...but I didn't. I had such high expectations. My kids ordered the Lunch Boxes, which weren't a bad deal. They got chicken katsu, sukiyaki steak, some rice, and a small salad (with a strange crushed onion paste on it that looked like applesauce, which made us wonder if anyone had actually ever tasted it) for $9.50. I ordered two different unagi rolls and octopus. The piece of octopus I got was good, but my son literally chewed his piece for 5 minutes before he could get it down. The $8.50 and $12.50 that I spent for my rolls almost made me angry (not just disappointed in the place). One roll was eel and avocado. The eel was almost non-existent and the avocado was overpowering. The whole production was a little bigger than the diameter of my thumb and there was about 8 pieces. more

One of the WORST dining experiences of my life! 2/28/2009

I'm a Vegas local that eats out 4-5 times a week and when I find a place I like I become a repeat customer. I came in late last night to try your Teppan Table. Pros: The one sushi roll we had was good. The Teppan chicken was good, the steak was ok. Cons: Rude owner that allows people to talk through dinner on their cell phones. more

The best japanese Steakhouse in Vegas by far! 2/1/2009

This place Rocks. It has a great location- very close to the strip. A great staff. This restaraunt is divided into 2 sides. The first side has a sushi bar and tables and booths. The other side has open grills where the chefs cook in front of you and put on a great show. Our chef was named Tiger. He made us a meal we will never forget. Do not miss out on this place. You willl regret it if you do. more

Wonderful service and superior food, top notch experiences everytime 12/1/2008

Absolutely the best tasting food and friendliest service I?ve ever experienced. The owner/chef used to be the head chef at Hamada in The Flamingo. We were so impressed with him, those many years ago, that we followed him to his own enterprise. He makes everyone, from all ages and walks of life, feel comfortable, involved in the cooking and invited. You?ll see late night crowd, but you?d still feel fine to bring in your grandmother (we did.) It?s also nice to see the actual owner so involved in the day to day operations, including the cooking. It?s really his attitude that makes this place such a special restaurant. He?ll stop and chat with you, if they aren?t too busy, and your food has already been cooked. The food is absolutely top notch. The chef makes a lot of his own special sauces. Even the dinner salad has an apple dressing, instead of the usual ginger or sesame. I?ve had chicken, shrimp, steak and scallops; all are great! It?s much better than the standard teppan experience, with much better food and more interaction. It?s a way above average experience, even if you?ve been to a lot of teppan grills. I recommend asking your chef if he has any ?special? sauces for you to try. They are always testing new stuff, and it?s always great. After tasting the food here, you will wish you had more room in your stomach. I highly recommend the Japanese Lasagna and the Buddha roll, if you like sushi (although both are baked, not raw.) The whole restaurant is a very comfortable setting, and we look forward to it, everytime we visit Vegas. I can sincerely say that this place consistantly delievers the best dining experience ever. I cannot recommend this place enough. It's a masterpiece in every way. The prices are moderate. I usually end up spending less than I thought I would, even though they seem high when I look at them. What more can you say about a restaurant with excellent service and the best food this side of the Pacific? Try it, you won't be disappointed. more

Fresh Sushi & Great Atmosphere 10/16/2008

We were on vacation and our local Vegas friends took us to this place. We really enjoyed our time and the food at Light My Fire. This is probably one of the best sushi places I have ever eaten at. \r \r PROS: Great fresh sushi, nice people and atmosphere\r CONS: None more

Happiness......Aaaaah sooo DELICIOUS! 9/8/2008

I'm very happy! Sushi around the strip has been declining for years and I finally found a place that has it all...freshness, taste, diversity, presentation, atmosphere, service, and the price. My friends told me about how great their teppanyaki was, so I actually went there for teppanyaki, but it was completely filled up. So, my friends and I decided to get down on some sushi. It was really delicious, they have an extended menu for sushi so it was overwhelming, but after we ordered a couple items, it was like clockwork, we went to town. I was really impressed with how fresh everything is and how everything is really tasty. We had 8-9 different rolls and all had it's own different delicious sauces that came on it or on the side. Try their wasabi creamy sauce on some salmon sashimi, it's to die for. I'm very impressed with how much different sauces they have, but none of them are overpowering, just enhancing perfectly. I used to go to this sushi bar across the Hard Rock and all they put on every roll was the eel sauce, it made every different roll taste exactly the same. I dug the 99% roll and the GRAND FINALE! My friends and I all agreed that the GRAND FINALE is probably the best roll that we all have ever had. I'm glad that the teppanyaki room was full and that we had a chance to put away some sushi! Well, I feel really comfortable here and plan on visiting more often, it's going to be my new spot. Hope to see you there! more

amazing 8/4/2008

This is one of the best kept secrets in Vegas. Service is great, food is amazing, prices are extremely low for the amout of food your getting, and the place is always very noticeably clean. Pros: this is great for a date night or a night with friends/ sushi or personal chef more

wonderful! 7/3/2008

We ate here for lunch today for the first time and everything was wonderful! We really had a great time. They have tepanyaki table service at lunch! (which is hard to find) It was very entertaining and the food was delicious. The triple x roll is especially good. The service is very friendly and attentive. We felt this was a great value in terms of quality food and generous portions at a reasonable price. We took home enough leftovers to have a yummy late-night snack... Will definitely return! Pros: great food, great value at lunch Cons: none more

CHECK YOUR BILL 6/1/2008

We decided to give Musashi a try given the great reviews and late night happy hour, but we were disappointed. They were out of most of the sushi apps we wanted-no baby yellowtail, uni, grilled octopus salad to name a few. Given it was tSunday of Memorial Day weekend we tried to be understanding- must have been a busy weekend. We had to inquire about happy hour, as they made no mention nor introduced anything of the menu/specials. Waiter finally brought us happy hour menus. Since they were out of so many apps, decided to do tepanaki. Son wanted to do the shabu shabu but that option inot avail at tepanaki bar. Too bad they hadn't reviewed the options prior to seating. Our chef (bro of owner) was friendly, talented and probabaly the best part of the meal. We're doing the "low carb" thing, all ordered extra veggies in lieu of rice. Food good, but a somewhat nice experience turned sour when we got the bill. There were no less than 6+ "Open Food" items listed on the bill (ie no explanation of charge), plus we had been charged for several sushi items they were out of! We'd had several sakitinis and belive they rely on tipsy guests not checking their bill. I reviewed the bill with the gentleman at register, he wanted no part of it and called waitress over. She proceeded to immediately delete the sushi items. When I inq about the "Open Food" I was informed that a total of $34 had been charged for "extra veggies"! When I said that no mention of an added charge for veggies in lieu of rice was made she started to argue talking through the gentleman at the register - she did not want to deal with me directly. I piped in that I refused to pay $34 for a few extra onions/mushrooms and zucchini-the gentleman at register advised her to remove it ,she did reluctantly with no apology - just walked away. All told our $346 bill came down to $264...imagine if we'd let our tipsy, vacation mood overlook checking the bill. Shady, dishonest, rude and WE WON'T BE BACK!! Pros: Good tepanaki chef and sakatinis. Cons: Rude female owner that likes to add extra charges to bill. more

I thought all these great reviews might be suspicious....but this place is awesome! 5/27/2008

I booked the cooking table for me and 7 of my best friends. Everything was amazing. Best Japansese food I have ever had. And the chef was very entertaining, not your typical onion fire and shrimp tossed on to the plate. He was witty and with it. You must go here for a little secret spot just off the strip. A great way to start a night of partying. They give you plenty of food, so order to share. We will be there every time we come to vegas.... Pros: Food, service, entertainment Cons: Its not flashy like a major casino....but more like a cool hideaway more

Chef's Know Best!!!!! 5/7/2008

I'm a chef at a high end Japanese restaurant on the strip. My friends and I are not a big fan of Teppanyaki restaurants, because the chefs these days really don't flavor anything, or everything just tastes the same. I was wrong, the chefs at Musashi really surprised me, they are very superior to their competition!!!!! We all went there with sort of a bad attitude, but came away in awe!!! We have been there three times in the past week and a half. Everything, I mean everything was really flavorful in their own way. The fried rice was probably the best that I have ever tasted anywhere. The Rib-eye was awesome as well, perfect on the teppan grill, juicy, and the flavor just blew up in my mouth. The scallops were delicious as well, not over cooked or cut thin, so the combination of black pepper, butter, and soy sauce really put a perfect touch on the juicy scallops. They also make all these other sauces on the side fresh, for all you sauce fans including their famous garlic sauce, homemade teriyaki sauce( I wanted their recipe, but they wouldn't tell me), sweet mayo sauce which they put peaches in it, and their spicy sauce, which is spicy, but has an awesome flavor, it's addicting..We are really impressed with the quality, flavor, showmanship, and the prices of Musashi!!! I would definitely recommend this restaurant... Pros: It's worth every penny and then some! Cons: Not close to where I live. more

Best Japanese Steakhouse 3/17/2008

I'm from Chicago and have been to alot of places where they cook on the table. Let me tell you that they dont compare to MUSASHI. The food was wonderful and there was plenty of it. You will not leave there hungry. The chef (who also happens to be the owner) was awesome. He kept us entertained for hours (and i do mean hours). It was the best experience I've had in a resturaunt in a long long time and I highly recommend it. I will be dining there again when I'm in Vegas, and I do visit several times a year. Keep up the awesome job your doing!!! Cons: parking was difficult to find more

I LOVE this place! 3/8/2008

I wanted Teppan for my birthday. I had no clue on where to go. I looked it up on citysearch and found Musashi. Pros: Great service, atmosphere & price. Cons: Make sure that the tip is not added to your bill if you pay w/ credit card. This was fixed promptly. more

STRIPPERS know BEST 2/21/2008

To make a long story short, I was at a strip club for a friends bachelor party. We started conversing with some of the strippers about where to go for sushi the next day. They told us to goto this restaurant called Musashi Japanese Steakhouse. They had a couple of napkins from there in the back, because they all get either take-out or get sushi delivered to them like everynight. So with the napkins and some of their numbers on them, we made our way there the next night. I was thinking, sushi at a steakhouse? Anyways, we were all surprised with the quality and service of this establishment. I mean it was really great. We sat on the couch in their private room, and really partied it up like rockstars! I had Toro, which melted in my mouth, Cajun Albacore, which was seasoned perfectly, and super white Tuna Jalapeno, omg it was incredibly delicious! I tasted a couple of other rolls that were pretty awesome, I know one was called triple X and the Wet Dream. I've never had rolls that had all these other sauces come on the side with these rolls, and all of them was money, flavorful. I really like this place. It's not like every other restaurant in Vegas, it's not overpriced, not commercialized, and definitely not fake like the other places we ended up going. We were talking to the waittress and she said that the Blue Man Group was sitting in the back booth. And as we were about to leave, the famous magician, David Copperfield entered and was getting seated in the teppan room. I guess this place must be a pretty happening place for the Vegas in-crowd. I will be going back there again and ask the strippers where they get sushi and they will tell you, Musashi Japanese Steakhouse. Pros: Not overpriced, not commercialized, great quality, great service( very personable ), worth every penny Cons: I had to spend alot of money at the strip club to find this place, but I did get some phone numbers. more

Everything it was said to be! 2/3/2008

Probably would not have gone because it wasn't well known, but few places are open at 3AM. What Luck! Atmosphere was Awesome, service was Great, and most importantly, the Sushi was Excellent. The flavored Saki was Great, as was their Musashi Mai Tai. I would go there ANY time of day if I want Sushi. Pros: Everything; Atmosphere, Service, Food, HOURS OF OPERATION!! Cons: 3 out of 3 Cabbies hadn't heard of it, so others may miss out. more
