Love this School 9/23/2009

My son just graduated from this school and had been going there for 3 years. The teachers are great and my son loved all of them. My son had some separation anxiety in the mornings and the teachers handle it wonderfully and when I left I knew that he was going to be fine and have a great day, which he always did. Now that my son is in kindergarten I see how lucky I was to have found such a great preschool that totally prepared him for kindergarten. more

Love This Place 6/29/2009

My child has been going to Murphy Canyon Preschool for about 2 years now. Everytime I drop her off she goes in with a big smile on her face and when I pick her up that smile is still there. Hugs are always waiting not only for my child but for me as well. It is a very confortable environment to walk into and I feel great leaving and knowing my child will be happy all day even though I can not be with her. I love this place. Pros: Best I have found more

Murphy Canyon is a great place to take your preschooler 6/26/2009

Our daughter has been attending Murphy Canyon Preschool for the past 3 years, and has really enjoyed her experience there. She was in diapers when we first started there. As a ""graduate"", she now knows her ABC's, can count to 100, spell her name, recognizes words and is learning to read, and is understanding simple math. They have prepared her well for the challenges of Kindergarten! Pros: Excellent Care, Safe Environment Cons: Parking Lot gets a little cramped! more

Caring Fun Environment 6/4/2009

This preschool, tucked away in a safe, bright corner, has been a wonderful experience for our family. We found Murphy Canyon Preschool through a neighborhood mailing and are thrilled to have had our son enrolled for the past 9 months. We plan to have him attend another year, through pre-K. The caring staff knows each child well, and provides a great combination of fun, education and nurturing. It's comforting to know with whom he spends each day, and that he's both learning academic skills for elementary school and having a lot of good play/creative time as well. Pros: Fun, safe and personal care more

""Care"" is the right word... 7/10/2008

I started my two sons at Murphy Canyon Preschool more than two years ago when I went back to work. I spent the first few days shadowing my child to make the transition easier, and to make sure I was comfortable leaving my kids in their care. I have Weds off, so volunteer frequently and can tell you that the staff really care about each student there, and do their best to make it the most positive environment possible. They may not have the resources that $200-250/week programs do, but they do the most they can with the resources they have. My older son is now almost done with his Kindergarten year at Birney Academy of International Studies (an IB magnet), and I believe that his current reading level of 10 (the state standard requires a level 3 by the time they leave K) has a lot to do with the foundation he received at MCP. Pros: Caring, nurturing environment more

  • Why teach just the ABC's when children are capable of learning Shakespeare? It is our philosophy that children should not be limited to basic teaching methods. It is through questions that minds are able to discover and grow. Our teachers constantly ask questions to stimulate and encourage response from the children. We believe in the old adage "It is through questions that we find the answers." We also encourage children to ask that sometimes frustrating and most repetitious questions of all why, why, why? It is only through open minds and an encouraging and fun atmosphere that children are able to grow. We believe that every child is special and it is our responsibility as teachers and adults to make the children believe this.
