Not sure how this place stays in business with all the other GOOD Indian restaurants in the area. We went to this place two times, hoping that the first time was just an off-night, but the second time was even more disappointing. The dishes are mediocre and lack flavor. Anarkali is a much better choice if you're looking for an Indian restraunt off La Brea and Melrose. more

I became a citysearch member just to write about how much I enjoyed this place. Great service, great selection of food, including Indian breads, beers, and dishes I hadn't seen outside of India, much less at other restaurants. Even got dessert on the house. Highly recommended! Pros: Inexpensive, Great Service, Relaxed atmosphere Cons: Parking more

Blah.... 7/7/2002

I have only done take out from Mumtaz -- perhaps the sit in meals are significantly different. I was really disappointed -- especially after reading the other positive reviews here. The sauces and curries were very watered down. The papadum (sp?) was also extraordinarily bland. The vegetarian samosa was probably the best thing I had -- and it was slightly below average. I ordered the rice pudding for desert -- I couldn't stomach more than a few bites of it. $35 for two people to have a very forgettable meal. Pros: Delivery Cons: Watered down sauces, Bland food, Poor value more

The dippin is slippin 6/3/2002

Seriously, the sauces there are not as strong as other Indian joints. First off the spicy sauce is not offered. You have to ask first. They sweet sauce is not that tangy. The grilled chicken was okay, but the Tandori chicken rocked. I'm not saying shi place is terrible, but not great. Pros: good chicken, nice dark place, good location Cons: dip sucks, no spicy stuff, service was weak more
