Best

As much as I love good food, good BBQ, I especially love good customer service. Ty, you are a manager supreme!! As I get older, I find that I am not getter more aggressive, or ...

Worst

Although, I love the ribs, the side orders are a bit lacking...can I get a salad?, a baked potatoe?, something! Also, because it is so popular and SO small be prepared to wait.

The Worst BBQ This City Has To Offer 6/5/2003

Mr. Cecils is Pure Plain Bad BBQ. Dried out ribs. Bad Service. We will never go back. Cons: dried out ribs, bad service more

Best ribs ever! 5/31/2003

I don't know what they marinate their ribs in, but it makes them the most flavorful babybacks I have ever had. Even when I've finished eating a full rack, and my belly is full, I am actually a little sad that the experience is over. In fact, I just ate there tonight and I'm already planning my next visit! Pros: Live music, Friendly staff, Tender meat more

Truly delicious in Sherman Oaks 5/31/2003

This is the only place to go in LA for succulent ribs, where the meat falls off the bone! The taste is so wonderful, you don't even need the sauces - but they are great, too. The grilled corn and baked beans are not to be missed. And if you're feeling like being healthy, the salads are fresh and tasty! Thank Heaven we now have a casual place in Shermans Oaks with such outstanding fare - it's simply perfect for a hot summer night. Now playing live music, too! Pros: Great music, Fast, friendly service, Lively atmosphere more

BB-Pew! 5/26/2003

After hearing several favorable reviews, we visited this joint and were sorely dissapointed! Ribs were mediocre, catfish was really fishy, and the cornbread was terrible! How do you made bad cornbread! more

Fake BBQ! 5/22/2003

This place sucks! Save your money! Go to Phillips, Leo's or Woody's in LA for real Southern Que! Cons: Dryed out meats, Overpriced, Fake Que more

Side Orders 5/22/2003

Although, I love the ribs, the side orders are a bit lacking...can I get a salad?, a baked potatoe?, something! Also, because it is so popular and SO small be prepared to wait. more

Awesome!! 5/9/2003

I loved the ribs and hush puppies. Go for the RIBS, the chicken was ok. I always thought beef ribs were tough and hard to eat until my husband insisted that I try them at Mr. Cecil's. They are so tender, they fall off the bone. Can't wait to go back again! more

THE WORST BBQ 4/24/2003

The ribs were overcooked and no flavor. The servers couldn't understand what we wanted. They must have brought in the cheapest help possible. The BBQ beef sandwich was the worst we have attempted to eat. Cons: FOOD, SERVERS, PARKING more

Sherman Oaks site 4/19/2003

No more than 6 months to live. Bad service, surly waiters. Waitress forget our drinks three times and we had to get up from the table to get them ourselves. Ribs were just ok. Overpriced. Restaurant is divided into two rooms. Do not sit in the rear or you will be forgotten. Also cold and drafty. At the end of the meal, the manager asked us if we enjoyed the dinner, and we all responded ""no."" He didn't say, ""How can we make it right?"" Instead he simply said, ""Jonathan (owner) knows we have problems, and I'm here to fix them."" Did he fix anything? No. He didn't offer any coffee, drinks, nothing. Poor service, lousy attitudes and overpriced. $180 for four. Crappy place. Go to Tony Roma's instead where the food is better, the prices are reasonable and the service is good. Pros: , Decent chili Cons: , Horrible service more

Top Notch Barbecue Ribs 3/26/2003

Wow! If you love ribs and barbecue, do yourself a favor and try Mr. Cecil's California Ribs on Pico in West LA. These are the most succulent and tasty ribs I have ever had the pleasure of scarfing. They are huge, meaty and tender. As far as the sides go, I haven't tasted fries this good since my mom made them by hand in her own kitchen. Baked beans to die for, excellent cole slaw, and hardy beers. Leave room for the hush puppies. Rib lovers delight. Pros: Fair prices, Own parking lot, Great tunes more

bracie 3/26/2003

Went to the new Mr Cecil's in the valley last weekend after a friend recommended it. Wow!!! The best baby back ribs I've ever had. So tender and the sauces were incredible, also the southern veggies were delish. Having spent alot of time in the South I'm pretty fussy about BBQ and they have mastered it. Was also impressed with their wine selection, much more sophisticated than one would expect in a rib joint, although I must say this is a superior one. Had seen a couple of really awful reviews on this site and am starting to wonder if they weren't written by one of Mr Cecil's jealous competitors?? Anyway, if you're into ribs I'd say Mr Cecil's is hog heaven! Pros: scrumptious food, fun atmosphere, great for families Cons: very popular more
