Gone Downhill!!! 8/9/2011

Second time eating at Moy's...very disappointed...ordered Crab Rangoon & Wonton Soup....I was told Wonton Soup was ""vegetarian""....it was simply broth and Wonton noodles....nothing else! I then asked the owner what was in the Crab Rangoon and she said ""cream cheese & cilantro""..... NO CRABMEAT....makes no sense... Not sure if they are simply cutting back on the ingredients for some reason or just simply giving up... Still in search of a decent Chinese place to eat in Columbus...... more

Unusually good and authentic chinese 6/10/2010

This is a place for people who mostly just care how good the food is, and are somewhat adventurous eaters. If that's you, run, don't walk, to Moy's. I'd stay away from the traditional Chinese-American standbys here--the ones I have had (General Tso's, Sesame Chicken) were not my favorite versions. But here are some great things to try: Rice Noodles with Chicken and Green Beans in Black Bean Sauce (or same with fried fish instead of chicken), Beefsteak in Black Pepper Sauce, Roast Duck, Fried Kwai Chiu (a rice noodle dish with Chinese Sausage, shrimp and egg), Pork with Pickled Mustard Greens, Pea Pod leaves, Choi Sum, Spicy Stirfried Whole Shrimp, various noodle soups with dumplings, wontons, duck, pork. They do a nice Peking Duck too but you have to order it a day in advance. I'm salivating just thinking about it. The proprietress can be stern and she doesn't like it if you try to stray from the menu or ask them to turn off the TV which is sometimes playing at night, or tell her you ordered something different than she brought for you. It's hard to park, too. But it's all about the food. Pros: Really good food Cons: Campus parking, sometimes brusque service, basic decor, TV more

The Best Kept Secret in Columbus 12/4/2009

Once you go to Moy's you will be spoiled for life when it comes to Chinese food. We've brought friends from all over the country and they've been impressed. You get what you pay for and at Moy's, it's always worth it. The Iron Chef of Moy's is Pak and there's no other cook that will ever prepare your meal. It's amazing that he can deal with a rush of customers and still dish out the most amazing Chinese food you'll ever taste. The sweet brown sauce they put on the ribs, General Tso's Chicken and other dishes is to die for. I like everything, but frequently order Chicken with Pickled Mustard, Shrimp with Scrambled Egg, Beef with Chinese Broccoli, Pork with String Bean, Tofu or Fish with Rainbow Sauce, Orange Beef and much more! If the parking was easier around the restaurant, you wouldn't be able to get in the door. Go just once and you'll be hooked. Pros: Food, consistency, family owned business Cons: Parking more

Tasty, but slow and pricey 8/19/2009

First off, the food is decent. Not the best Chinese I've had, but not the worst by a long shot. But, it was kind of pricey for the lack of ambiance, menu offerings, and service; not to mention lack of parking. No crunchy noodles to snack on, no offered tea, and when we asked if we could have a half-order of one of the fried rices for our son, we were told that they didn't offer half-orders. So much for flexibility. It's true that the owners know their regulars, and the maternal Moy is quite a character. We'll probably go again, but will take out so we can eat without hearing Nancy Grace on the TV. Pros: Food tasted good Cons: Parking, service, price vs. ambiance more

Hard to Find Jewel of a Chinese Restaurant on OSU Campus 10/18/2008

Where does one start. I was looking for something a little different than our normal Chinese Restaurant. So did My CitySearch and read some of the reviews on Moy's. I have to admit that when I see Campus area I tend to look for the next but I was hungry for something different so I convinced 2 of my teenagers and my wife to joing me on an adventure to a Chinese next to a donut shop.\r Enough of the turmoil. Let?s just say we were floored. Our Waitress was the daughter of the owner and she had only been back to work for a few days. She took us thru the menu to find dishes that we would have never looked at. I had the Pepper steak not only was the presentation great but I am a big eater and this was enough for 2 of me. It was tender well cooked smelled and tasted as if I were eating in a high end restaurant. Wife had a noodle dish that was better than the Singapore noodles she used to get from Mark Pi's. She claimed these to be the best she has ever had. Teen one had Orange Chicken. Chicken was all white meat tender well cooked and the orange sauce well it tasted of oranges very good we all had a taste and all said it was the best dish on the table. Teen two had Sesame chicken this chicken was all so all white meet cooked very nice with a lot of sauce and sesame seeds. Could not get enough. We also had the chicken corn soup and hot and sour soup along with egg rolls. super nice job on all. I do want to state they had fried dumplings. My wife asked if she could get them steamed the replied no problem once again my wife said these were the best dumplings she has had. The only draw back it is on campus and parking is tough to find on a weekend but if you are patient you might find one over by buckeye donuts. The restaurant is not flashy and if you didn?t know it was next to the donut shop you would most likely not find it. Give them a try. No take out menu and hard to find in phone book. A little treasure for campus. Enjoy I know I will. Pros: Great Food, Friendly Family Run Business, Next to Donut shop Cons: Parking what can we say it is on campus. We all know about campus more

THE BEST... I mean... THE BEST Chinese in the world! BEST SERVICE! Remember's your name & your order, you will be a regular after 1 visit! 5/9/2008

The best, I mean.... THE BEST CHINESE IN THE WORLD. I will NEVER go anywhere else! EVER! They are catering my wedding (if they say no I will just buy $3,000 worth of Moy's!) Haha. The Seasame Chicken doesn't even look like anything you've ever had before. Unlike other chinese places that have very ""puffy"" chicken, Moys is flat chicken, 100% white meat (no little suprises). The fried rice is not some crappy yellow rice, it's ACTUALLY FRIED. Like with fire. This place is Heaven Sent! One time I called them and they didn't answer, and I FREAkED OUT thinking they were closed, turns out they just opened late. I had a 2 hour conversation with my boyfriend (we always get moys, every weekend, for the past year) that if they closed I would just DIE. This place is better than any chinese in the world and best of all we are REGULARS. It feels so good when the lady (it's family owned, husband & wife) knows your name and knows what you get. She even reconizes my voice on the phone when I place an order. I always tip her because it's great to have that kind of a relationship with a favorite chinese place. I found Moy's through CitySearch, 1 1/2 ago. Now I have this GREAT relationship with them and GREAT food forever, I hope this guides you to your next BEST CHINESE meal of your LIFE! Pros: The food is fantastic, they have REAL fried rice, the chicken is 100% white meat and not puffy, they remember your name and what you like to eat! Cons: No parking, or very little parking. Always metered. I always get take out so I wouldnt know. more

Some of the best authentic Cantonese you'll find! 7/4/2006

I've been a regular at Moy's for over 10 years. The food is excellent, varied and perfectly prepared. Master Moy is zealous about his creations and strives always for perfection! more

Best Chinese Food 7/26/2004

My friends and I found Moy's during our freshman year at OSU......and instantly became fans. It's hidden next to Buckeye Donunts so it's easy to miss. Their food is fantastic, and a great deal. Moy's has an authentic, family atmosphere with great service. Plus, it's nice to have Chinese at a place without fast food-type menus on the wall. Moy's has the best Chinese food I've ever had.....try the Sesame Chicken! Pros: Inexpensive, Authentic, Great food more

Authentic! 9/8/2003

Moy's is run by a couple from Hong Kong - the husband/chef was a cook there for 30 years. They run a clean, authentic Oriental restaurant with friendly service and a diverse and excellent menu. The place is full of regulars - always a good sign. Plus, the prices are reasonable. Pros: food quality, helpful service, price more

Campus Hideaway 8/7/2003

We found this here in Best Cheap Eats and it is wonderful! Soups are ok to good, but thrown in with meals, but main courses are distinctive and different than normal bland oriental fair. If you don't see it ask! No War Sui Guy on the menu, because it isn't oriental??. Sure they fix it and it is great with a distinct almond flavor. Staff is great and speak good American! A campus hole in the wall worth the adventure! Go for the food, not the ambiance, unless your thing is, hole in the wall! Pros: Great distinctive, Inexpensive, talk American Cons: small, campus parking more

Simply put...the best. 6/10/2003

Moy's is flat out the best place for Chinese food in the city. They're dishes are incredible, the establishment is always clean and the people working there are always as nice and genuine as you'll ever find. Take the time to find Moy's on High Street and give it a try. You can't beat it for quality or price. Pros: Inexpensive, Great Food, Quality Service Cons: Limited parking more

Awesome 5/25/2002

Moy's has great food especially their Chinese BBQ combination (Roast Duck, Roast Pork, BBQ Pork, and Cantonese Chicken). I also like their Shrimp with egg and Black Pepper chicken - it's so delicious. PS: the Black pepper chicken is so spicy, I usually have it mild. Cons: Crowded in lunch time, Parking space more
