Follow Tauna to Muse 720.389.6920 1233 E 13th Ave, Denver. I know I am!!

Worst

I always give salons 3 chances. My first appointment was ok, thought they were a bit unprofessional and my hair was slightly funkier than I anticipated but she did a great job. ...

Most Flaming Hot Guy Behind The Counter, seriously! 4/7/2008

Moxie is awesome. The experience is complete from the moment you walk in the door and start nodding your head to ""You'll be Better off alone..."" until you thank god somebody changed the radio station. Clients experience the true nature of the 13th ave scene - more hipster kids you can count coming out of City O City and Buffalo Exchange and homeless dudes walking in and trying to take a seat unter the hair dryers. If you want awesomely cool hair, you can be assured you will leave satisfied and looking somewhat like your hairdresser. Overall the service is informal and friendly - comfortable like you spent the night before drinking pomtinis at Watercourse with the entire staff - and you are guarenteed to walk out one degree cooler, and by cool I mean stylin', rockin' your new do Pros: Wookie Cons: Wookie more

Best Salon in Denver 4/6/2008

It took me almost 2 years when I moved to Colorado to find someone who could cut my hair the way I want it... Katie at Moxie knows what to do. Always friendly, always takes the time to get it right. more

hot review for a hot new style 3/23/2008

I got my hair cut, and it was exactly what i wanted. the first time i tried to get my hairstyle done there it wasn't what I wanted however it still looked good. But I got my haircut by Ash and she totally rocked it! It looks amazing and I'm going to get my haircut by her always now! more

Sweet and Chic! 3/20/2008

I love this place! It's got a fun atmosphere and no one gives you that stuck up snootiness you find at most hot salons. Everyone is down to earth and super friendly. I even caught the owner sweeping up hair! :)\r \r Ryanne is new, but she cuts hair like a pro! I love the new style she gave me and she even gave me tips on how to get the same look at home. \r \r Thanks Moxie!! Pros: Great staff, great place, great price Cons: nada one more

I looked good but. . . 3/19/2008

When I left Moxie--after being referred there by a friend--I looked good. \r \r However, my hair was at least two inches shorter than I had indicated I wanted it, about three shades lighter than I said I wanted it, and I left without it really being styled. . .only blown out. I didn't get the cut I requested or the color. \r \r I wouldn't go back unless I did not care how my hair was cut or styled or unless I wanted someone to ""do their own thing"" and I did not have an idea of what I wanted. But if you want someone to make up your mind for you, they seem like a talented lot.\r \r I was also was in a station next to the owner who was loud and rude and cursing. Not really things I care about but it gave the place an air of unprofessionalism and created an unpleasant vibe. Pros: nice people, front desk guy very sweet! Cons: didn't get the cut I wanted, some arrogance abounds more

Suzie Rocks and so does my hair! 3/15/2008

Suzie Rocks! She is new to Moxie, so I was able to get in immediately. I went in with boring hair, wanting color and a fun cut. She has a funky-cool style herself ,and listened to exactly I wanted. We talked about color and the cut style- I wanted thick bangs, weave, and all over color. She asked me a few questions , then she went to work and ""viola"" I walked out with beautiful hair color and the cut I was in desperate need of. The best part is that she does amazing work and the prices are fair! Pros: convinient, great people, and quality work! more

Will be going back! 3/13/2008

I had my hair cut and colored by Ryanna today, and though I used to see other stylists at this salon, I felt she did a great job, like I've come to expect at Moxie. She did my hair just like I had asked, but also provided great advice to give me the best look. She also recommended products and methods of styling, and was very polite and talkative. I've never had a bad cut at Moxie Salon, and this was my first color there, which ended up being amazing! I have to say, my hair looks better than expected. I'm already thinking about what I'd like to have done there next time I go in. Pros: The atmosphere is way hip and the stylists and professional and knowledgeable Cons: If you want a bad haircut or style, you won't get it here... Also it may difficult to get the stylists you want at times more

Wonderful haircut, definitely will be a repeat customer 2/26/2008

The girls at 3 Little Birds recommended Moxie and I owe them a debt of gratitude for the suggestion. I received a wonderful haircut at a price that was way below what I would have expected from such a nice salon ($25 for a mens cut). I usually get a simple shave because nobody that charges less than $60 per visit has the skill required to cut my hair (I usually get a sigh and a dirty look when I take my hat off to get my hair cut) and a buzz cut is hard to mess up. After being ""interviewed"" by Felipe about what I wanted, he proceeded to turn a shaggy mess into my favorite haircut to date. Good conversation throughout the cut made time fly by as well. Even as a first time customer I was treated as if I had been going their for years and they have earned a return customer for sure. Pros: Price, quality, and service more

Great Modern/Hip Salon 2/24/2008

I recently went to Moxie for the first time and thought it was a great modern salon and my stylist did a fantastic job. I had made my appointment with a different sylist, but due to personal issues she wasn't able to cut my hair..I did end up waiting a bit but another stylist was able to step in and get it done. Ryann was my stylist and I will be going back to her for sure, super sweet and did an amazing job with my hair. 5 stars for my stylist.\r \r I did rate it 4 stars because it can be hard to find parking, and I did orginally end up waiting a while. Although I would recommend them to my friends :) Pros: Up to date skilled stylist Cons: parking more

all the good ones are gone? 2/18/2008

Kind of interesting how all of the stylists who have good reviews from Moxie have all left... Dionah works at Salon Instrukt- 1407 Ogden St, (303)831-0266. Heidi works at LisaAnn's- 4940 Ward Rd, (303)424-5472. Talie and Lynette opened their own salon 3 Little Birds- 837 E. 17th Ave., (303)861-2333. Emma is back in Breckenridge (unknown location). Aja is at Paul Garcia's- 300 E 3rd Ave, (303)333-5577. I wonder if the salon had a good reputation or if it was just the luck the crazy owner had in finding good stylists.... now that they are all gone what would he have to say? Too bad good hairstylists know their worth and can be appreciated elsewhere. Good Luck to everyone! more

Aja makes me love my hair 11/17/2007

Aja is a stylist that was at Moxie but recently moved to Paul Garcia's. What's amazing about Aja is her ability to understand exactly what you want to do with your hair. Color is especially tricky and hard to trust a new stylist with but she will blend in five or six hues to give you the exact look you wanted. Also, I have very fine/thin hair so Aja recommended extensions. Last Christmas I flew home and my own parents didn't notice that I had extensions in because they were so natural and matched perfectly with my real hair. For years I thought I would be doomed to thin hair and generic highlights but now I never want to leave Denver because Aja has completely changed my perspective on how my hair can look. Pros: funky stylists, great atmosphere, out of the box thinking Cons: hard to find parking more

Aja is the best!!!!!! 11/14/2007

I had the best cut and color in my life from Aja. She is not at Moxie anymore, but don't worry. You can find her at Paul Garcia's Studio at 3000 E. 3rd ave in Cherry Creek. The phone number is (303) 333 - 5577. Although she has moved to Cherry Creek, her prices are still the same and the quality of the service is still amazing. She has her own room at Paul's, so the noise that I was annoyed by at Moxie did not effect me. It was so nice to be in a clean salon without a freaky salon owner breathing down my back like at Moxie. Go see Aja in her new space, it's totally worth the trip. And there's free parking right on 3rd and St. Paul, right past Brix!!!! Pros: Aja is sweet, professional, and the quality and value of her service is outstanding. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Cons: Moxie itself wasn't the greatest, but Aja is in a new place now more

LOVE LOVE LOVE KATIE O'SHEA!!!!!! 8/16/2007

I had been going to the same woman for about 5 years when I realized she had just become a little dated and her style wasn't really working for me. So...I had a couple of friends recommend Katie to me while she was actually still in beauty school. I was totally nervous but decided to go for it anyways and it was one of the best decisions I've made. Katie has now been doing my hair for about a year and a half and I wouldn't let anyone else touch my hair again!!! Every time I have gone to see her she has been incredibly sweet and she always listens to exactly what I want! It may sound a little egotistical but I have AMAZING hair (cut/ color/ highlights...basically everything) and I OWE IT ALL TO KATIE!\r \r It doesn't matter if you just want a trim, a new style or some intense color...Katie will make your hair look exactly the way you want it to! If only everyone went to Katie...then we wouldn't have to see all the bad dye jobs and awkward cuts that some people unfortunately end up with. Every time I leave Moxie after seeing Katie I have a renewed sense of confidence and I had NEVER felt that great after getting my hair done before Katie! I send everyone I know to her and have never heard or seen anything but amazing things! Pros: One of the nicest ppl. I've ever met, fabulous stylist and she really listens to what YOU want! Cons: Katie is fabulous but the receptionist could get on the ball a little bit with answering the phone more

Aja, Aja, Aja! Best in Denver! 7/26/2007

Aja is the best! She gives you exactly what you want and is so resonable. She is the sweetest person and cares about her clients! Sometimes I don't even know what I want to do and she takes over and I am never disappointed. She never tries to talk you into anything you dont want and is really good about working around your schedule. The atmosphere is fun and you defintly would leave satisfied. GO SEE AJA! more

Lynnette rocks! 7/25/2007

Lynnette is the only person I would trust my hair to. I have been going to Moxie (although the name has changed) for 9+ years, and I only schedule with Lynnette. But here's the thing, the few times I really needed a haircut, and she was out of town, the other stylists do a fantastic job as well. None the less, if Lynnette were to ever have to move out of state, I would be one of those crazy people who would fly out to her new locale so that I could get my hair cut from her. You know what...? I don't think I would be the only one from the Denver area that would do that. I have somewhat of a demanding job (Financial Advisor) and I have to put my best ""face"" forward. Again, that's why I only go to Lynnette. Here is something you may not know about her... she is such a good ""stylist"" that she opened the shop on a Sunday (they are closed every Sunday) just to accomodate my hectic schedule because I had a HUGE deal going down the next Monday at work. Would your stylist do that... or would you have to go to supercuts somewhere and end up looking like a retard the next day? I have been ""advising"" her for years that she should up her charges to compete with other stylists out there, yet she refuses. That is her loyalty to you, her customer, her client, her friend. And if, God forbid, you have a wait a few moments for her, my suggestion is you do it. Rome was not built in a day... the stellar service that she provides is worth the wait. And Lynnette, if you are reading this, thank you SO MUCH for fitting me in to your lunch hour today (and skipping lunch to cut my hair). I needed that extra edge in my meeting. more

Lynnette is Fantastic 7/23/2007

Lynnette has been cutting my hair for 6 years, and as long as she's in the area cutting hair, I'll be okay. Lynnette has never given me a bad haircut, and believe me, it's possible. She is very attentive, flexible, and talented. As a person, she's genuine, friendly, and kind. I can't for the life of me understand what happened to ""Horrid"" - I can't imagine Lynnette doing any of the things she's accussed of here. I can only imagine that the writer was mightily put out by having to wait (and by God, she will have her revenge). It's no fun to have scheduling trouble when all you want is a haircut, and it's no fun waiting, but all due respect, I can't believe a word of what she says about the quality of her haircut. Yes, I'm defending Lynnette, but it's only fair given how many people are willing to complain and how few people are willing to step up and give recognition and positive feedback when it's deserved. Pros: Lynnette, City O City next door, fun atmosphere more

Horrid customer service and inconsistent cuts 6/13/2007

I was not impressed with Moxie, particularly their stylists Lynette and Chi Chi. First, the salon messed up an appointment, so my boyfriend and I waited for 20 minutes and then were told the stylist couldn't do it. So my boyfriend went to Chi Chi instead, who didn't listen and ended up making my boyfriend look like a marine. Second, I got a good cut once from Lynette, but the next time she cut one side of my hair an inch shorter than the other. One side was totally uneven, and the other side had a random chunk hanging down about an inch. NOT worth the money or inconvenience of being made to wait. If you go to Lynette, hope she's having an ""on"" day.\r Pros: cool decor Cons: bad service and skill -- snotty attitude more

Lynette is awesome 4/19/2007

I really enjoy going to Moxie to get my hair done. Lynette is fabulous. Not only is she a great person, but my hair is always gorgeous. She's especially good at coloring hair--she always takes the time to listen to what I want and then adds her personal flair. She also recognizes that I can't get into the salon every couple of weeks, so the color fades nicely with my natural tones and I never look ""root-y"". She keeps track of all the colors she puts in my hair to make sure that when I come back she knows what she's working with.\r \r There are two downsides to Moxie. The first is the parking. The meters out front are two hours max (strictly enforced) and that just doesn't work when you're having color done. The parking lot around the corner from moxie costs $10 which is a little steep. The second downside is pretty universal to all hair salons: I usually have to wait when I get there.\r \r All and all, it's definitely worth going to--especially if you book with Lynette. more

Emma @ Moxie is amazing...I love this Salon 2/6/2007

I have to say that I love Moxie Salon. I started seeing Emma about 3 months ago and I must say that I have never been happier with a stylist. Emma Is AMAZING. She sat down with me and had a consultation about what I currently did with my hair and what look I was hoping to achieve. I found this approach to be so unlike other stylists that I had visited in the past. Emma has transformed my hair into a walking piece of art that I am proud to display for her and the salon. I have never felt so confident and beautiful as I do now and it is all because of Emma and Moxie Salon. I have referred numerous friends and co-workers to Emma and we are all dedicated clients to her. I find that the scheduling caters to my hectic work and life schedule and I love the atmosphere of the salon. Thank you Emma for being so professional and talented. Thank you to Moxie Salon for my hair therapy! \r Abby more

not so impressed... 12/20/2006

I will start by saying that the owner is quite arrogant and he is as snobby as one can get. First, he did not bother to come over to greet me, after I waited for him. He stood at his chair and then proceeded to roll his eyes when he saw me (I should have went w/ my gutt feeling, and I should have left at that point). He claimed he knew everything there was to know about hair (along with every single one of his stylists). When a stylist makes that kind of claim, usually quite the opposite is the case. So, after talking to me (or I should say insulting me), I could easily tell he did not have the level of knowledge about my hair that he claimed to. I quickly left the salon. I would never recommend this salon to anyone, but if you happen to make an appointment here, please stay clear of the owner. more
