Family Fun and a Reasonable Price, Especially with Season Passes 2/8/2009

Mountain Creek is hilly and you will definitely get exercise navigating the steep hills here but it is so much fun for a family. If you live close enough to go a few times during the summer Season Passes are the way to go and pay for themselves pretty quickly. Although when you enter the park with season passes you still have to wait a while to get in. The park has always been well-maintained and clean each time we have visited. The parking is free which is a huge plus! The only downside is the price of food and drinks, and no outside food (except water) is allowed in the park, which I find difficult with small children to trek outside the park to the car every time they want some juice or a snack. Baby food and bottles are permitted, though. more

Mountain Creek Water Park 6/18/2006

Mountain Creek Water Park is an action packed adventure park full of high energy water rides. The Park is located about an hour's drive from NYC on Route 94 in Vernon, NJ. You can also take an express bus to Mountain Creek (call 917.692.5222) for bus stops and fare information. The park operates in full swing seven days a week from mid-June through Labor Day. You can literally show up here with a bathing suit, shorts, sandals and sunscreen and spend the day. Forgot your suit or sun tan lotion? You can buy what you need at the Mountain Creek General Store using cash, credit card or the park's own Splash Cash (waterproof wrist bands purchased in any denomination that can be used to purchase food, drinks and supplies). There are lockers available to stash your stuff--leave valuables at home or worse case, your car. Why risk losing your stuff? The rides are wet and wild and lines can get long on a hot summer days and onweekends (the busiest). Get there early if you can (the park opens at 10AM weekdays and 11AM on weekends; it closes at 6PM). Wear something sturdy on your feet as the pavement gets hotter than H*LL (pick up acqua socks, if you forget footwear). There are separate water rides for the small children called Half Pint Harbor and the park has life vests at no charge at Guest Services (thank goodness, I thought I was drowning on one of the water slides until my friend yelled YOU CAN STAND UP! You can bring your own picnic lunch (highly recommended as the food can cost a small fortune) and eat just outside the park entrance. Bring plenty of water, especially if it's a hot day! The local newspapers run specials frequently throughout the summer. www.mountaincreekwaterpark.com more
