It's a good place to visit 11/21/2006

It's really interesting learning about Mt. St. helens..especially since it has been really active lately. We went a couple of years back before it started erupting again..and it was cool to learn about the volcano's history...the facilities are pretty nice...hopefully, it wont have any major eruptions anytime soon. Pros: Grreat view of the volcano, good learning experience more

Mount St Helens 2/28/2003

Just make sure you go on a clear day. Its hard to see through fog or a cloudy day. However, very worth the trip! More History created in Oregon on that faithful day a few years ago. more

Don't take your dog 9/7/2002

I was disappointed with the site. Don't take your dog if you plan on hiking with him - they aren't allowed on too many trails - and good luck finding those. Public access is very limited to pavement. Pros: nice pavement Cons: too much pavement more

Volcano!!! Awe inspiring!! 7/25/2002

A real time volcano; what could be a better attraction to the Portland area and Mother Nature did it all herself. Interesting to the Max! A new pristine environment to be watched as it unfolds. more

Amazing sight 5/19/2002

I haven't been to St. Helens in probably five years, but it is an incredible place, even 22 years after the big eruption. You can still see the trees laying like toothpicks where they fell, and many other dramatic reminders of May 18. It's amazing how nature can bounce back after such trauma. Take a picnic and spend the whole day sightseeing and hiking. It's something you won't forget. Check out the Ape Caves, too. more
