2 stars for the name change and the fact that the upstairs is hot as balls (in a bad way).

nice tavern 12/15/2005

Mother's has really good food and they also have the night life. This tavern is situated right on Higuera Street, a central location in downtown SLO. It has a very grown-up, mature feel to it, but is a hot spot for college students at night. The drinks are great, the atmosphere is great. It is very clean and the people are friendly. more

Good Thing your Mother Won't be There 6/27/2005

Mother's Tavern is not your usual bar/restaurant. By day, Mother's is a place for business luncheons, young singles to meet for a drink and chat, or for family dining experiences. As evening approaches, tables are moved and DJ equipment is set up. Neon lights run the perimeter of the bar and a doorman waits outside to check IDs. By midnight, Mother's is the place to be in San Luis Obispo. Young people crowd the dancefloor and mingle in the upstairs lounge. Bartenders are stationed sufficiently to provide quick service. If you don't spend your entire night there, at least make sure you end up there. You won't be disappointed. more

Mother's - Great experience, Low prices 6/27/2005

Mother's Tavern is located in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo's social scene. From the street, it looks as though it would be any old bar in town. Once inside, the restaurant goer may expect a classy, yet relaxing, dining experience. It's only when you open the menu that you realize there won't be a hefty bill following your meal. Chicken quesadillas are only $4.50 and are delicious!! The staff is friendly and professional. The overall dining experience is a steal. Ambiance and comfort rate high as well as quality meals and service at a low price. more
