We called in our reservation around 2 PM, Oct. 22 there answering machine picked up and said leave your message. Which we did for diner at 5PM that evening, when we arrived we we...

Great for a romantic date 11/2/2007

My husband took me here for our 4-year anniversary. (We also brought our 14-months-old daughter along.) The restaurant scenery was beautiful. We had reservations and didn't have to wait long to be seated. Our waitress was very courteous and attentive. The food is somewhat pricey (ranging from around 12$ - 50$) but is exceptional. I had the warm duck salad as first course and cleaned the whole plate! The salad is full of flavors like no other salad I've ever tried before. I followed with the crab cakes (which was good also) while my husband had filet mignon. His filet mignon was about the size of a fist costing 36$ but was very delicious. We finished our meal with creme brulee for dessert (they even wrote ""Happy Anniversary"" on it.) We enjoyed the whole dining experience & would love to come back again (except next time we probably would get a babysitter for our daughter..she would not sit still there!) If you're willing to spend the money & want to find a restaurant that endulges your senses, this is your place for a perfect date. Pros: ambience, service, food Cons: although kids are allowed, I wouldn't recommend bringing young ones more

Great Food and Ambiance 10/16/2007

My wife and I decided to go to Moshulu on our 1 year anniversary and weren't disappointed. The fact that the restaurant is actually a ship on the water is a unique attraction to this restaurant but not simply a gimmick. The food is genuinely good. Sometimes when you go to upscale restaurants you sacrifice portions for presentation but we definitely didn't leave Moshulu hungry. Desserts were very good as well, don't skip dessert. Service was good as well, no problems. Overall great experience. more

Horrible Customer Service 10/1/2007

I was out at a big family dinner at the Moshulu. It was my Grandmother's birthday and the waiter was bringing out drinks for a toast. As the waiter was placing the drink in front of my cousin, the waiter got distracted and spilled about six drinks on my cousin, soaking her hair, back and the pillow she brought for her back. My cousin quickly went to the bathroom and tried to clean up but really there wasn't much that could be done. In any event, they offered to pay for her dry cleaning. more

One of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia... 8/30/2007

The food and service were excellent when I attended dinner for 2 on my birthday and a Sunday brunch for a graduation party of 15. There is no other restaurant in Philadelphia that offers the ambience and views Moshulu offers. I would definitely experience dining here. Pros: Food - Service - Ambience more

Look's Aren't Everything 8/22/2007

It was a great disappointment! First of all, the food was tremendously over price for the size portion. It was like a spoon of this and a teaspoon of that. There was nothing exquisite about the taste. I was there with a large party and the waiter was not able to be time efficient and accommodating to everyone?s needs meticulously. I must say that the atmosphere was somewhat exceptional. They have the looks to lure you in but they don?t have what it take?s to keep you coming back. They get two thumbs down two times. Pros: The atmosphere gives a good first impression Cons: Quantity of Food and Quality of Taste is the absolute pits! more

Never again!!! 8/12/2007

This is a tourist trap, with over priced food and terrible management. The service deserves applause, because being that nice with people like that as your boss is nearly miraculous. Someone named Bill Bergan insulted my wife when she complained that her food was undercooked. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Pros: Nice atmosphere, good service Cons: Poor value more

great food and nightlife 8/9/2007

We ate at moshulu on a saturday night and had a great experience. The food was very good and the atmosphere is romantic. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable. The manager was very nice and helpful. Pros: the atmosphere was very elegant, food was great Cons: lil expensive but worth it more

Toss the General Manager Overboard 7/12/2007

Over a year ago we attended a large family dinner at the Moshulu for which my wife picked up the tab. While my wife was settling the bill, a member of the staff handed her a Moshulu VIP card (similar to a gift card that you would get at any store) and indicated that we had a monetary credit that could be used at our next visit to the restaurant. more

Management is to blame 6/29/2007

I recently visited the Bongo Bar atop the Moshulu for a celebratory affair and was completely disappointed. What a shame. The Moshulu is recomended by most of the tourist literature and is a Philadelphia icon, but is unworthy of it's status. I am a local and wanted to enjoy the early evening on the boat with some fruity cocktails and easy relaxation. I could not enjoy it at all because: more

Extremely Accommodating! 5/26/2007

This was long overdue but I wanted to thank Ed who was our waiter for the evening. We decided to go to the Moshulu to celebrate our 5th Wedding anniversary in April, 2007 and he was very accommodating to my dietary needs and I really appreciated his patience and his friendliness. Our dinner was fabulous and we will definitely go again. Than you again Ed and see you again soon. more

Don't bother 4/22/2007

Service is average at best- waitstaff is not very knowledgeable. Doesn't come close to competeing with other great Philadelphia restaurants. Although drinks on the deck in the summer are nice, for the money you spend I would recommend dining elsewhere. Pros: nice ambience- good views Cons: service consistantly below average- prices high and food only average more

a twist 4/14/2007

while the food is good...the price is more for the atmosphere...wonderful to look out of portholes as you dine...out onto the water more

The best wedding venue in the city!! 1/3/2007

I recently contacted the Moshulu to check it out for my Fall 2007 wedding. I am impressed! When I called to get information I spoke with a very helpful catering manager who immediately sent me out menu options (including pricing) as well as sample photos of previous wedding events held there. The space looked gorgeous so I called back to set up an appointment and I was there that very weekend looking around. There is no place like the Moshulu anywhere else in this city! I was wowed by the amazing views off the top deck, as well as the tall masts that light up at night. It was truly spectacular. I booked my wedding that day and I am so excited for the big day to arrive! I look forward to working with the helpful banquet team (who by the way already helped my find my florist, photographer and band) and I am truly happy with my decision. Pros: Very helpful staff, quick response to inquiries, lots of information Cons: Nothing to report so far! more

The best part was the view of Camden and the enchanting moonrise. 8/10/2006

The meal could not have been worse! The filet was about 2.5 oz and was overdone. The service was sparse and unattentive. The coffee was cold, bitter and gritty! It price was unreasonable with regard to the quality of the food. I will certainly never dine there again and I hope you fellow diners will select one of the dozens of delicious restauants in Philly to enjoy a quality meal at a reasonable cost. After, stroll down to Penns Lending for the free view! If you are dying for a taste of the atmosphere, order a cold cocktail (or whatever) from the bar and sip it on the aft deck. Bon appitite. Pros: The riverfront view Cons: Everything but the view! Really. more

Best seafood i south philadelphia and Great service 7/22/2006

I think the moshulu is the best place to go for out of this world seafood i highly Recommended Pros: the best more

Best service and food 7/12/2006

This restaurant has the best service I have ever had in my life! Bongo the outside deck has great dinner and dancing. The tilapia is fabulous! We were quickly seated....making a reservation is the best move if your planning to dine inside. Pros: service. food. music. atmosphere. outdoor deck "Bongo" more

Good Lunch 5/14/2006

Try the Moshulu for lunch - not so crowded - service is a bit better than evening. Lunch prices are also a bit more reasonable and the menu is quite good. Somehow, you don't mind slow when you have a full afternoon, the river to look at, and you're only waiting for a pannini or a crab cake. Lunch for two can still run about $50 with tax and tip but that's not so bad when you want to take your time. Pros: river view, lunch Cons: service more

Don't Try to Plan a Party Here! 5/10/2006

I recently visited the Moshulu to possibly plan a small wedding, and made an appointment only to find the person we made the appointment with not there. She never called and told us she couldn't make it. We were shown around by someone else who couldn't answer our questions, and told us to call the next day. My mother called and was asked rudely what she wanted. My mother tried to explain we wanted to book a small wedding, and we had questions. The GM kept cutting her off and never apologized for their service or lack of hospitality. I will NEVER go here again and I have never been treated with such a lack of respect in my life. Cons: Rude, Unhelpful, Bad service more

A Very Romantic Valentine's Day 4/25/2006

I went here in Feb 05' with my boyfriend! The menu was unique and the setting was so romantic, or maybe it was the company. We had dinner around sunset, we sat overlooking the waterfront, it was just absolutely beautiful! The waiter was so prompt with our food and very polite. He also told us about the history of the ship, included personal ghost stories. He encouraged us to walk around and explore the ship! I had the lobster, it melted in my mouth- my boyfriend had the steak and said it was great. It was a bit pricey, but for the experience we recieved that night- made it well worth it. A great place for that special evening! Pros: ambience, staff, rich in history Cons: plenty of parking more

Not Impressed 2/17/2006

the staff runs in frantic mode the whole night without any direction or order or, obviously, professional training. the bartender and wait staff service was the worst I've experienced in Philadelphia in 10 years. Pros: food presentation Cons: service, professionlaism, management more
