Food lackluster 7/11/2011

With the updated decor this restaurant could be so good but it's not. While the service is fine the food has no favor and no extras and you pay good money for that. I ordered the lamb pita fully expecting it to be the tasty Greek gyro we've all come to love. The lamb itself was not bad but it was in the pita with basically nothing. It was missing the traditional tomatoes, onions, cucumbers and yogurt dressing. It did have about .25 oz. of feta cheese which I paid extra for. I had to ask for dressing on the side to even eat it. The waitress apologized -- does that mean it normally has dressing and they forgot? Take my advice -- save your money and go somewhere else. They have high prices for this food - obviously to pay their rent. more

For people who know nothing about food 5/2/2008

The restaurant looks nice, the service was friendly. BUT. The food. Yikes. The ultimate sin of this place is that they give all the appearances of having great things to eat while in reality serving the exact opposite. Fast food would've been more satisfying, because at least you have no expectations for the meal. Here, even something as simple as a pita wrap was bland, tasteless and borderline revolting. Be forewarned, you are paying only for the ritzy ""river road"" location and nothing else. My wife and I saw many West Enders happily gobbling down their lukewarm dishes of mediocrity, leaving us to wonder if they've ever had a good meal before. There are certainly a number of good restaurants in Richmond for under $20-$30, this was far from one of them. more

Bad service 4/22/2008

I was very excited to have Mosaic cater my wedding after meeting them at a bridal show. After I got in touch with them, we had a consultation and we agreed that he would work up and menu and price, and that we would set up a tasting for later. After not hearing from them about menus and prices, I emailed them, but got no response back. Over a month later, after the time we had said we would do the tasting, I tried again, but still no response. I called the office, and was assured that someone would call me on Monday, and two weeks later, I'm still waiting. I'm moving on. Too bad- I had heard good things and they had good ideas, but I can't trust my wedding to a company that I can't count on. Pros: good ideas and food Cons: poor service and communication more

Great atmosphere, Great menu, but food could be better 4/15/2008

I've been to mosaic several times and although I love the decor and the menu, the food itself has always been ""not quite right."" On my first visit I ordered the bacon-gorgonzola chopped salad that had cranberries, almonds, egg, etc. It was also supposed to include walnuts, but there weren't any. I realize that sounds a bit picky, but I love walnuts and was disappointed. When I went again I ordered the curry walnut pasta, which sounded promising with a curry cream sauce, walnuts, and cranberries. I liked the flavor of the curry sauce, but there was to much of it! The pasta was swimming in the sauce and it was way too salty (I usually love salt), also--there were no walnuts, again! I'm hoping these experiences are just me because all of my friends love the place. I'll go again and give it another shot, but I won't be ordering anything that says it includes walnuts! Pros: Nice atmosphere, great menu Cons: Food hasn't always been as good as it could be more

Nice for brunch 12/7/2007

We decided to try this on a whim for brunch because it was close to our church. As an extremely picky person, I was impressed with their brunch. The eggs benedict were great-- served on toasted pitas along with spinach it was a refreshing change from the traditional english muffin. My son enjoyed his french toast (made with wheat bread) and grits. Everything was served at the appropriate temperature. My only complaint was there was too much o.j. in the mimosa--even after I asked for a 2/3 to 1/3 ratio of champagne to juice. Pros: Good creative food, plenty of parking, ambiance Cons: watered down Mimosa more

What a pleasant change! 4/4/2006

Malinda called us back promptly to answer question and invited us in for lunch to discuss our companies upcoming needs. This was our first time and we loved the place! The service was nice, the food was awesome and Malinda was so attentive. When the order was delivered to work, she came in and set everything up plus left the receipt at the desk. We never knew she was there, everything was ready to go with no help needed from myself or my staff. If only every catering company was this prompt and professional. Way to go Mosaic, do not loose Malinda. NJ Gray more

Just what I needed 8/20/2002

This place was increadible. The interior design alone was great enough to come back. The food there was very creative and they even gave their own kick to regular menu items. The oriental chicken salad was excellent. It was a nice experience away from all of the chain restaurants around. Pros: Great atmosphere more
