Montys Steak House

Where do I begin. Went with a group of late 20s corporate attorneys and yuppies. Maybe they thought we couldn't afford it? First: we had reservations but waited 45 minutes. Second: for roughly ten people they gave us one menu and after repeatedly asking, got another two menus in about 30 minutes. Third: while opening the wine bottle, the foil was literally shaved off into the air and into several glasses of water. Fourth: we were asked what we wanted to order when only half of our party was there and though our party showed up a few minutes later, we were not approached again for over 30 minutes. We finally flagged down another server, who was very sweet and prompt in order to get our order in. Fifth: several dishes were forgotten. Sixth: after another eternity - we finally got the bill after asking several times. When the server got to the table - she STOOD AT THE END OF THE TABLE AND ANNOUNCED THE TOTAL OUTLOUD, "FOUR HUNDRED ...." and just looked at us. ??????!!!!! I felt bad for one of our friends,a Pasadena local who loves this place and wanted to impress us. The food was fine - but the service was embarrasingly awful. Will never go back again. I hope they fix this. Our only thought was that maybe they thought we were too young? Pros: Nothing Cons: Worst service ever more

This is truly a one of a kind steak house. There are some other great ones in the Pasadena area, but this is the original. The atmosphere is exactly how you'd want a steak house, dark mahongy wood, low lighting, and burgundy seats. There is a great bar that plays sporting events and is cluttered with local sports memoribilia, but that's besides the point. The steaks are fantastic, and always cooked to perfection. The Pasadena Peppercorn is fantastic. They also make the best baked potatoes that I have ever had (and the biggest), and when they are brought out, your waitress will mash it and add anything else you like to it. The wine selection is also very good. A good secret to know about, ask for the fried pickles. They aren't on the menu, but they will make them and they are a great way to start off the meal. Classic! There are few restaurants out there that I can depend on the quality of the food and professional service. The exquisite meat is always prepared delectably.The staff is always professional and courteous; you are the reason they are there, and that is rare to find anymore. Monty's willnot disappoint! We like Monty's. It's like Cheers where everyone knows your name. Chris the host is extremely friendly. The serving staff has been there for a while & really have it together. A lot of new & flashier Steakhouse's have popped up over the last 5-6 years. Monty's is still here & were better off for it. Pros: Steaks, Huge baked potato, service more

I live in Orange County, and have experienced some of the "finer" steakhouses around. None of them compare to Monty's of Pasadena. I make the drive from Anaheim to Pasadena at least once a month to sink my teeth into their savory steaks. Chef Dan Van Etten at Monty's of Pasadena always serves up the finest steak that makes my taste buds sizzle. I would recommend Monty's to anybody searching for an enjoyable eating experience.
