excellent school 5/27/2015

my wife and I are very satisfied with the school. Our son loves it> His teacher has been there for 20 years and is very caring. We love that it has an open door policy, where parents can go to school at anytime to see their child. Love the wooded playground. more

great teachers-great location 9/14/2012

Our daughter loves children's cottage! (age 4) She loves her teacher and talks about her all the time. We live in the heights and it is very quick drive. We love Ms. Anna who has been there 25 years plus. Very happy here. more

Awful 12/1/2011

My daughter went here (age 18 months-24months). I saw things that made me sick. Form your own opinions but here are some things to ask yourself.... 1. What are they doing every time I pick my child up regardless of the time of day? (I found this answer to be the simple word of nothing or flashcards) 2. What are the teachers always doing? (here's what I found. Sitting not at eye level with the kids talking to each other or with a bored look on their face) 3. Why does my kid keep getting sick (hmmmm one of their recent violations was using wipes in place of hand washing) 4. Where are all the toys and art work and kids music and just simple fun stuff..... We left as soon as we found another daycare with an opening, which is not an easy task in this area as most places have long long wait lists. And we LOVE the new place. The difference makes me feel guilty for the little time she was at Childrens cottage. (check out Immanuel Lutheran School in the Heights...15th and Cortland.) more

The teachers are great!!!! 1/24/2011

We currently have our daughter enrolled here--she has been here for 3 years and we love the teaching staff and facilities--they are patient and very caring. The school is located on a large piece of land covered with trees and ihas a very cozy feel. Our son, who is now in elementary attended school here for 5 years and is now in the vangaurd program at Oak Forest. There are many other former students also in the vangaurd program that also attended Children's Cottage-- most of the teachers/staff have been at school for several years--which speaks for itself more

Simply put... 1/24/2011

No need to go in to details just suffice it to say under no means should you ever take your child here. more

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE! 11/4/2010

If you love your children, I would NOT recommend this place. My child was at this school from 3 months to pre-kindergarten. My child is now 9 years and has told me all of the cruel things that they did while they were there. I thought that if I spent a lot of money for my child to attend this school, that they will be very well taken care of. Well this is not the case. This is reason why you can’t just drop on and check out the school. You need to have an appointment. I spoke with someone that used to work there. I was told of all of the horror stories. The teachers will be nice to you in front of your face, but you need to really see what really goes on behind closed doors. I should have trusted my instincts and moved my child but I did not. Now, I feel bad because my 9 year old now is telling all the bad things the teachers use to say and do to them. more

Extremely useful 7/28/2005

Both my wife and I work and since our child is only 5, we needed someone to take care of our child. I heard about Montessori in the newspaper and from a couple of friends who had nothing to say of it but rants and raves. Of course, rants and raves being good things. We enrolled him in the cottage and although it was difficult to leave him on his own for the first time, he came back and was so excited. He could not stop telling us of all the games and things that they had played and learned and could not wait to go back the next day. Our child has been in the Cottage for about a year now, and although he is looking forward to going to school this year, he is sad to be leaving Montessori. This place is a necessity if you have kids and both of you work. Call and enroll. The people and staff are very friendly and will do anything to meet your needs. As I said before, Montessori is extremely useful and saved us from a lot of trouble! more

Children's Cottage 6/28/2005

The Montessori Children's Cottage is a great place for working parents to leave thier children while you are at work. They have two separate locations and divide the children up from 6 weeks to 2 years in 4 different classrooms and only move the children are ready emotionally or developmentally not just based on age. They are very affectionate with the babies and toddlers to help them make the transition with out the parents being present. There are always lots of activities and learning starts at a very young age. more
