Authentic Irish Pub 2/19/2009

Molly's Pub Downtown is a true authentic Irish Pub with a great selection of draft beer's & whiskeys. It also has very good food along with a fun staff & crowd. The location on Main St on the light rail line just tops off this a great pub. Pros: Beer, Whiskey, People & Location Cons: None more

Slainte is no more. 5/31/2008

New Name...Molly's Pub...Great Party Bar...Great bartenders and lots of flat screen televisions to watch the games on. Pros: True Irish Pub...Best Drink Specials on Main more

TERRIBLE BEER 8/28/2005

Really to call this place an IRISH pub is a travesty. After the bar tender informed me that they did not carry Chimay even though their website said they did, I ordered a Guinness. It was by far the flattest, most spoiled beer I have ever tasted. They changed out the keg and the next glass was still horrible. The balcony upstairs is fun, but there aren't a lot of chairs. Go here if you are drunk already and want to drink bud light after a baseball game. Don't go if you want a nice beer. Pros: Nice balcony Cons: Bad beer, Poor service more

Never Again 8/3/2005

I have to say that I am extremely dissapointed in Slainte. I went to the bar on a weekday after an astros game, and the female bartender was outrageous. She was rude and it was such a dissapointment because we were trying to have a good time after a game. I love the dollar bud light drafts, but I can assure you that there is another bar that will get my dollar and it is not too far from yours. Love the place, hate the staff!!!! Pros: people, cheap drinks Cons: rude staff more

We LOVE Ruby Room!! 7/26/2005

No matter where we go when we're on Main Street we ALWAYS end up at Ruby Room!! The doorman's a cutie and you canNOT beat the view on the patio! I recommend Ruby Room to all of my friends! Pros: Great patio view, Music, Atmosphere Cons: NONE! more

fun place to check out on sat night 7/24/2005

I love this place, Me and my friends always go to this place. The people are friendly. Great music, drink specials, we gave my friend a birthday party two weeks ago and it was a blast. The dj gave us special vip request. The music and crowd is always great.Rather you go on balcony to socialize or downstairs where th slainte pub is or just stay in the rubyroom and dance all night. Its a great place to go dance the night away and meet some great singles or new friend. Im there every other sat. more

surprised by some of these other reviews 6/22/2005

I went to a wedding reception at Slainte's several months back & had a great time. Was very surprised to read so many reviews about them having such terribly rude staff. My experience there was nothing the like. Food was good. Music was outstanding. The outside balcony upstairs has an absolutely fantastic view. The decorum was clean & authentic. Nice art work. Close parking was available. Enjoyed it very much. more

Uptight Staff 5/19/2005

I love the music in the Ruby Room but the female bartenders are BUZZKILLERS from hell!!! :( The drinks are weak considering I am a big tipper. Despite buzzkill, the displayed artwork is awesome, and the DJ plays a great mix. :) Pros: Art Work Displayed, DJ & Music - 80's!, Patio & Shadow lounge Cons: Female Bartenders, Door Guy more

love this place! 2/13/2005

Slainte is a great place to meet friends for drinks. I love the authentic decor imported from Ireland. The food is excellent and they have cheap daily food specials. The 75 cent drafts with any pro-sports ticket stub on game day sure beats the $6.50 price at the ballpark or stadium! Everyone is personable and friendly, both staff & the guests in there. After drinks, I recommend you venture upstairs to the Ruby Room for dancing. Great DJ. It's loud in there & the bartenders can't hear sometimes over the music (they aren't rude, they just can't hear orders) The balcony is the best one downtown. It's two venues in one building. I can't wait to go back! Pros: great crowd, excellent food, Ruby Room upstairs, n more

Bad Service 12/6/2004

First of all, I have not been downtown in a while. I am glad to see all of the new changes. I heard about Slainte and wanted to check it out. It was a cool bar but the service was lacking. it took me forever to get a drink and then I got a bad attitude from the bartender. She was very rude. I wanted to have some fun, but I didn't need to spend my money on bad service. Music was cool. Pros: Cool Music more

Where is the patio? 10/10/2004

Ok, so some friends and I headed downtown for Houston's "Best Happy Hour". We hardly expected to be disappointed, however, I do not understand why the best balcony patio on Main would be closed during Happy Hour!!! Gotta great thing going here, just a little more sense is needed. Also, and I admit ordering a cocktail in a pub is suspect, I have to say that the Best Bartender label is a bit misleading. Maybe I got the second string, but when your bartender pours the mixers like she should be pouring the alcohol, you've got a problem. Pros: Great Food, Great pub Cons: , Closed Patio?? more

Great bar, friendly staff 9/20/2004

Slainte is, by far, the best bar in downtown Houston. It's not trendy, it's not expensive, the food is delicious, and the drink specials are OUTSTANDING! Where else can you get a 75-cent pint of beer any day the Astros, Aeros, Texans, Rockets or any local college team are playing at home? Staff makes the place, though. They are the most friendly people you'll meet on Main Street. Pros: Friendly staff, great food, fun atmosphere Cons: , nothing, nothing more

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME 9/8/2004

My wonderful friends threw me a surprise birthday party on Sunday and the staff ruined it. The female bartender was so incredibly rude! My friends made arrangements for the entire evening and she made it a very uncomfortable night. I would never recommend this place to friends/family/co-workers. I am in the service business and I would never treat anyone the way we were treated. So needless to say....the party relocated to a bar down the street where we were treated with respect and courtesy. more

Back In Business 9/10/2003

Slainte reopened it's doors in 2003 and back at it again. Great Irish pub with slightly better-than-average food. Good place for happy hour after work. Glad its back! Pros: Location, Beer, Food Cons: Crowded at Times more

  • In Short
Main Street's popular Irish pub expands its offerings with a second-floor dance club. In-house DJ Jason Galle spins high-energy tunes for the sexy, downtown party crowd. The expansive balcony overlooking the street makes for some prime people-watching and turns into quite a scene as the night wears on. Tasty cocktails, friendly staff and an upscale environment add to the overall experience, while wild monthly party events keep the Ruby Room regulars coming back for more.
