After three excellent experiences at Misto, I feel compelled to let others know about its lively atmosphere and great food. While service is not always perfect as other reviewers have recognized, the warm and welcoming attitudes of the owner and his staff make up for any service flaws. After reading all of the negative reviews - decided to check it out anyways. Food was actually very good. Service was not. First time in years that a server refused to deviate from the menu at all. Then when it was discovered that they were out of a bottle of champaign - the only thing that was offered was 2 splits of a more expensive champaign. I went to this restaurant for the first time and I will never return again! We order the roasted artichoke for an appetizer and it wasn't even cooked properly...could it be anymore hard! We ordered the Creme Brulee for dessert, it was more like riccotta cheese with a crispy thin layer of sugar...can you say GROSS! And last but not least the service is absolutely terrible! It took 3 hours to be served in a restaurant that wasn't even half full! So if you have other plans I would think twice, but it has a nice ambience for drinks and that's it. If you want great service and excellent Italian food go to Volare on St. Clair & Grand Ave., but you need a reservation otherwise you will be waiting a while, it's the best I have found and being Italian myself I should know.
