Miss the Botanical Garden 10/19/2006

I used to live real close to the Botanical Garden and would go on occasion. Plus when I worked at a day care real close to the Garden we would take the children over to the garden often. Hey I could not complain. I was getting paid to warch the children, but also to go to the garden. I love the herb garden when I would at times go alone and also the catfish pond. more

Flowers everywhere! 4/17/2006

The Missouri Botanical Gardens is one of the most beautiful places in the city. The plants are amazing, and the Japanese garden is gorgeous. They often have differnt events for the family. The current one is a glass exhibit with Dale Chihuly (an amaing glass blower). Great place for weddings, but a little expensive. The ticket prices are a little high, but well worth it for a day of strolling around looking at the beautiful flowers. It is cheaper if you are a member or live in the city. School trips in the school year can make it a little croweded. If you can go for a night time exhibit I reccomend it, the gardens are beautiful lit at night. more

Botanical Gardens 4/7/2006

The Botanical Gardens is so wonderful. Its so beautifully kept. This place is absolutely huge, the first time you go, you’ll be shocked. And it’s a lot of walking, but so, so worth it. Also, its free for St. Louis residents which is a great bonus. And in the summer they have concerts on the front lawn. more

Great place to visit all year round 11/16/2005

Some visitors may shy away from visiting the gardens during the winter, but there are actually things to do and see all year round. There are a number of indoor gardens (the Climatron - rainforest, the hothouse - desert, home garden education center, etc). They also list events year round on their website. Growing up my family always went to the "Dinner with Santa event" which was great, but I couldn't vouch for it now. (Just a nice childhood memory :) more

Botanical Gardens 9/27/2005

If you truly enjoy nature at it best this is one place you need to go and visit. They have such beautiful gardens you can walk around and see. They have a Japanese garden that is pretty cool with lots of fish in the ponds. The best is in the spring when all of the tulips are in bloom You can also visit the climatron which is a huge green house with lots of tropical plants and flowers. This is really a beautiful place to visit. more

just a lovely place! 9/16/2005

What more can I say, the atmosphere here is stunning. The flowers/ trees/ surroundings are constantly changing with every season. Never the same place twice. I have even been lucky enough to be there when weddings were being set up. (great location for a small crowd!) Definetly a place to go & relax.. more

wonderful gardens 9/11/2005

All ages find something enjoyable here, at what locals call Shaw's Garden. Some of the favorites include the blind garden, the Japanese garden and the water garden. The blind garden includes many wind chimes and plants known for their smell or texture. Guests are encouraged to touch the plants and make noise with the windchimes. The Japanese garden includes the ever popular koi and food to feed them available for pocket change. The water garden includes fountains that guests, mostly younger children, can run through and get doused. Very refreshing on the many warm days in St. Louis. Highly recommended, even for those that aren't all that into gardening. more

Beautiful Flowers! 8/16/2005

If you like flowers or are looking for a peaceful way to spend the day, go to Shaw's Garden (MO Botanical Gardens) and just bask in the beauty of the flowers in bloom. There are several areas in this huge flower park built on the estate of Henry Shaw. The Climatron is a geodome that houses many hothouse and warmer weather tropical type plants. There is a Japanese garden area where both bonsai and Koi fish are plentiful. The tulips in the spring are the crowning glory of the gardens. If you like regular garden type flowers, there are plenty of Petunia's, Pansies and Zinnia's to make you happy. more

This place is gorgeous! 8/13/2005

I love the Garden. It is a great place to walk around and your scenery is some of the best in St. Louis. Feed the ducks and the koi at the Japanese garden. Walk among hundreds of roses in the rose gardens (there are two of them). Kids can have fun in the fountains and in the Children's Garden. If you are a St. Louis City or County resident, admission is free from opening to noon on Wednesday and Saturdays. more

A must go place in St. Louis 8/13/2005

Beautiful park, beautiful flowers.. I take my out of town family and friends there when they come to visit St. Louis. Nice and relaxing to stroll in the park! Romantic walks. Should go to the Japanese festival in September! Lots of activities, performances. Better yet to become a member of the Garden. more

Beautiful 8/11/2005

This is one of Missouri's must see places. It is beautiful year round. It is great for kids of all ages and adults. the prices are great and you can usually get coupons. But don't miss out on one the most beautiful place. It will keep you thinking of what you can plant at your house. It can be packed on weekend but not too bad close to the local parks so you can have lunch there more
