Editorial review from Citysearch 3/18/2013

I absolutely hate living here. The staff is a pain to deal with, i would contact them about something that needs to be taken care of and usually i have to contact them 3-4 times before anything happens. I had my screen door that needed to be fixed and they came in and took it and it's been a few months already and i've yet to see them put it back in. The crime rate in this complex is ridiculous. I've had my license plate tags stolen twice, my mail tampered with, my car broken into and my stereo stolen all within a year. People's cars were stolen in the parking lot (which is the worst apartment parking lot i've ever seen). I've had packages delivered that were opened (Luckily it was not worth stealing otherwise it would be gone), pets are allowed but they don't enforce any rules for people picking up their dog crap. I step on dog crap all the time because it's on the sidewalks riddled all over the grass and nothing gets done. A ton of stray cats live in the complex so make sure you roll your windows up or you will find plenty of evidence cats have been in there, and some of my neighbors do drugs and deal drugs. I smell pot at least once a week walking to my apartment.\r \r Security is a joke, the crime rate is so high yet you would think they would have cameras installed. Due to all the crime I've had to deal with i wanted out of my lease so i can move and it took 3 weeks of constant calling to finally get an answer for that and they won't allow me to move. I am stuck here or pay a ridiculous fee to move. I've lived here for 1 1/2 years so far, never been late on rent and been a good tenant, but would not allow me to move somewhere safer for my family to be because of the crime i have to deal with. I've never had to file a police report before because of where i lived and since i lived here I've filed multiple police reports from all the sleezy scum bags that live there and visit there. All too often i come home from work and someone is parked in our covered parking stall because the parking is so bad people are too lazy to walk up the hill to visit other tenants.\r \r The parking is a joke unless you live on the south end of the complex. It's almost like the apartment building i am in was an afterthought with no room for parking. So i have to park so far away from my apartment building it takes me at least 2 minute walk to get to my car. The days i have multiple loads of groceries to carry in it's a pain because of the distance i have to travel up or down hill to get to my car. If you plan on leaving on a weekend and come back late the parking lot is usually packed and no where to park, i've had to wait 40 minutes some days sitting in my car wiating for a parking spot to open up. \r \r The cost of living in this place i would expect a lot better stay. Paying over $820 a month (minus power bill) for a 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment that's a hike from the parking lot, dealing with a ton of crime and a staff that procrastinates to get stuff done is plain and simply a joke. I would not recommend anyone to live here, i personally cannot wait till my lease is up so i can move. more

Absolutely the WORST renting experience of my life!! 11/13/2011

if I could give zero stars I would. When we moved out of our apartment we left the place immaculate, even going so far as to wipe EVERY wall down with magic erasers. Two weeks after vacating we were shocked to see a cleaning bill for nearly $1,000. Yes, that's not a typo...a cleaning bill for $1,000 with such outrageous charges as $250 to repaint the entire apartment, which just so happened to have been fully painted one year prior. Then they were billing us just over $400 for carpet cleaning because there were two very small pet stains, and $90 for ""wall repairs"" which they initially said was to fix fist sized holes in the wall, but when I disputed this claim they then said it was to fix holes where pictures were hung...basically to cover basic wear and tear. When we called to dispute the bill they agreed to lower it to $700, but still couldn't explain why they were billing $400 for a carpet cleaning service that FOUR Murray companies quoted as costing $150. I made repeated calls to Miller's ""management"" with no returned calls. I made a final offer of $400, which I felt was more than equitable, but all I was told was someone would call me back. Then one year after moving out I received a letter from a collections attorney demanding payment. I then started the entire process of disputing what I felt were erroneous charges, after a month of dealing with the attorney's Miller Estates accepted my offer, which was the same one I made a year prior, but now I have attorney and court costs tacked on!! All I can say is, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE LIVE HERE.... more

Worst living experience! 8/22/2011

It's all terrible, just as every other review indicates. Not only this website, but many others as well! Unhelpful staff and very unreasonable demands create a bad environment for renting. In one year of living there, I wasn't able to talk with any other tenant that was willing to renew their lease, not one! Be wise, keep looking! Best Wishes! more

Don't walk away. Run. Fast. HORRIBLE! 3/5/2011

I cannot tell you how horrible my experience living at Miller Estates was. I read reviews online before moving in, saw how horrible everyone else said it was, and thought there is no way it could really be that bad. Trust me. It is. Lets start with this: For 6 months, I paid exactly the amount of rent that my lease said I was supposed to pay. Then, management leaves a note on everyone's doors saying that cable is being discontinued, and to subtract $35 from your rent starting the next month. SO, I do that, pay my rent on time, and they leave a 3 Day Pay or Evict Notice on my door, saying I owe them $20-ish. I figure I must've miscalculated, so I take them a check for the difference immediately. The next month, the same thing happens. I double check my math, and I know that I had figured correctly. So I take my lease to the managers office, show them how much rent my lease says, tell them they are figuring wrong and billing me wrong, and they proceed to tell me that my lease is incorrect, and that they have been ""writing off"" the difference each month, but its time for me start paying what I really owe. Bear in mind, I signed a lease, and their manager signed a lease saying exactly what I was supposed to pay, and they went against it. Liars & scam artists. That's what these people are. They also refuse to do anything about neighbors who throw beer bottles, pop bottles, cigarette butts off of their balcony and into mine. Constantly. They also refuse to say anything to them about the loud parties, screaming, swearing and general rowdiness of the same neighbors. Another experience, was in January. I was bringing groceries in from my car. I locked my keys in my car, and my apartment was locked. I had all my groceries & mail right in front of my apartment, but could not get in. I called management, and they told me they could not let me in to my apartment, because it was a ""liability"", even though I had my ID and mail with my name & APT # on it. They told me I had to call a locksmith to let me in. Which was $100. And I had to wait for 45 minutes in January, outside. Please, if you are thinking about moving here, do yourself a favor, and don't do it. WORST APARTMENTS EVER. more

Don't do it! 9/25/2010

This is the most disorganized landlord I have ever had. When we signed our lease the person working told us how much to write the check for, my husband wrote the check and handed it to her, and then they called us a few days later because we didn't pay enough. One month they applied our rent check to another apartment, even though the apartment number is printed on the check, they posted a notice on our door that we hadn't paid rent yet and would be evicted if we didn't pay. We had a leak in our apt. and when it was being fixed the maintenance person saw a cat on the patio, not our cat, we live on the first floor so cats sometimes wander through the patio. We got a notice that we had an undeclared pet and needed to pay the pet deposit and pet rent (which we already paid because we have a dog). We just got a notice, in the middle of our lease, that we need to pay $120 for damage to the doors. The only door damage is the molding around the bedroom door is cracked from opening the door when it was accidentally locked. Isn't that why we pay a security deposit and is one 6ft strip of molding really worth $120? Basically, really frustrating, overpriced place to live. more

Crooks, crooks and more crooks 11/12/2009

This place will nickel and dime you to death. Do not be fooled by the low rent and deposit. When you move out they charge you to repaint your entire apartment. I received a bill equal to that of my deposit after I moved out. They created all of these mystery charges for money I ""owe"" them. Be sure not to have them paint an accent wall. They charge $40 to paint the wall and $100 to paint it back! Do not choose this as a place to live. All they care about is ripping people off. Maintenance and management are unresponsive. Neighbors are loud and trashy. I paid a $250 deposit and I got a bill for $267 for painting and cleaning even though I left the apartment in immaculate condition. Also, beware they require 60 days for move out notice. This is another way they make money since they don't explain that up front! Pros: Roof over your head Cons: Everything else more
